Are you ready for a challenge, passionate about education, the continual improvement of services we deliver and patient safety. If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Educator to join the Outpatient Clinical Support Service for fixed term. Working closely with the Head of Nursing, Clinical Educator and Matrons you will develop, support and implement an educational framework for both new and experienced outpatient nursing staff of all grades. You will be expected to lead the work with Sister/Charge nurses on developing and implementing learning packages and competencies to support induction, preceptorship, and mentorship for the registered and unregistered workforce across the Outpatient service.

### Main duties of the job

The job holder will play a lead role in ensuring the development of clinical staff both registered and unregistered. The job holder will enable the development of clinical practice mentors, assessors and key trainers, providing supervision through on-site support and Trust wide continuous professional development activities. The post holder will be responsible for leading clinical education and associated resources in Outpatients and phlebotomy clinical areas. The successful candidate will provide a high standard of education.

Job Summary

As well as Nursing, there are a number of teams within Outpatient CSU that as Clinical Educator you will have the opportunity to work alongside. You will be able to advise and support the non-nursing educators and team managers within the CSU (ie reception, administrative, switchboard and phlebotomy) with staff development and competency packages in relation to improving our customer care and experience training.

What you will bring to the role

The job holder will support the assessment of the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments, and implement interventions for improvement. The job holder will support mentors and assessors and ensure clinical professional development for preceptorship and other role developments. They will enhance the quality of care delivery from both the registered and unregistered workforce. The post holder may be line managing a junior clinical educator depending on the clinical service unit.

You will have

- Significant and recent relevant clinical experience.
- Clinical experience within the speciality (essential )
- Significant post registration experience in a junior leadership role eg Band 6 or equivalent
- Experience of clinical audit and standard setting
- Working with a wide range of professionals including medical, nursing and management colleagues
- Evidence of service development and or facilitation of change management
- Budgetary management experience (desirable)
- Understanding of performance management strategies
- Significant experience within a leadership position

- Recognised teaching/assessing qualification

- Masters degree or post graduate level development equivalent to a masters

### Practical Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own and other’s workload.
- Skills and knowledge required to lead and develop team members
