In addition to delivering formal education and training there is the requirement  that a high level of clinical visibility and competence  is maintained, approximately 50 % per week. You will be required to support maternity staff including newly recruited midwives, whilst acting as a professional role model and using clinical expertise. The post holder will need to demonstrate safe, evidence based- this is in the first sentence and feels a repeat midwifery practices practice and be a role model. The post holder will support the Maternity Division in its Education Programme to deliver the  requirements as detailed in the Training Need Analysis for all clinicians. Wider aspects include contributing to corporate projects associated with both National and Trust wide priorities and objectives. Contribute to the development of pre and post registration courses.  To participate in the formulation of clinical guidelines and policies, providing research-based information to the process. Support the  preceptorship programme, along with the other clinical educators and the retention midwife for newly qualified staff including annual appraisals for preceptorship midwives, and working alongside clinically. Lead on the provision of induction, orientation and clinical support for all new maternity staff. To provide education and training in practice, to include skills drills and practical skills necessary for the midwife’s extended role.
