CLINICAL EDUCATOR – CRITICAL CARE

Band 6 - 37.5 hours per week - Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated and enthusiastic Clinical Educator to join our Critical Care team.

In this role, the Clinical Educator will lead the delivery of training and education programmes across the Critical Care service, supporting the development of a skilled and confident workforce.

Working closely with the Clinical Education Team, Lead Nurses, and Matron, the post holder will contribute to achieving the educational objectives set by the Trust and Network. They will also help shape and implement educational strategies that support these goals.

The overarching aim of the role is to ensure staff are competently trained to meet the demands of their roles, enabling the delivery of safe, high-quality, and efficient care within a positive and supportive work environment.

The post holder will collaborate across a multi-cultural, multi-disciplinary workforce to share knowledge, align goals, and promote clinical excellence. A strong commitment to high standards, a clear educational vision, and the ability to work strategically within an educational budget are essential.

### Main duties of the job

- Deliver an effective educational strategy using a blend of teaching and learning techniques, enabling both educators and learners to create an optimal learning environment through the use of technology, high-quality content, efficient administration, and strong communication.
- Maintain high standards of nursing care, ensuring compliance with Trust policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Support staff in delivering holistic, person-centred care that recognises the individual needs of patients and their families.
- Utilise staff and resources effectively and efficiently, in line with Trust policies.
- Prioritise workload to manage competing demands and ensure timely, safe care delivery.
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation, including written reports, handovers, and legal records, in accordance with professional and Trust standards.
- Contribute to the promotion of clinical governance through standard setting, implementation, and audit.
- Lead and support quality improvement initiatives that benefit patients, families, and staff.
- Confidently manage digital systems including e-rostering, SafeCare, Sunrise, and ICCA to support service delivery.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working clinically in a Critical care unit after the completion of a PGAA in Critical care

### Physical skills

**Essential**

- Physically able to undertake role with minor adjustments
- Ability to work flexibly over a 7-day period

### Knowledge & Training

**Essential**

- Proven leadership skills within Critical Care
- Ability to supervise & assess others to include pre-registration and post-registration students
- Ability to share knowledge base with others and to teach on the education programme
- Evidence of self-development and development of others within Critical Care

### Qualifications & Education

**Essential**

- First level registration
- Post Graduate Academic Award in Critical Care
- Recognised award in teaching & assessing
- Evidence of Leadership & Management

**Desirable**

- Evidence of CCN4 competencies

### Analytical & Judgement Skills

**Essential**

- Demonstrate attention to detail
- Ability to work flexibly under pressure and problem solve
- Commitment to evidence-based practice & the development of nursing practice

### Planning & Organisational Skills

**Essential**

- Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for all levels of Critical Care patients without supervision
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload of self and others
- Ability to maintain accurate records, data, information and prepare written and verbal handovers

### Communication & Relationship Skills

- Proficient interpersonal skills - to
- Effective communication with patients, families, carers and members of MDT
- Ability to work as part of a large multidisciplinary team
