We are seeking an experienced and motivated Clinical Education & Research Practitioner to join the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East Midlands, working within the Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTC) Theme at the Leicester Diabetes Centre.

This post, funded by the EM ARC, is for a Clinical Education & Research Practitioner to join an established, successful research team to contribute to a programme of work which aims to address health inequalities and improve health outcomes in people with multiple long-term conditions (MLTCs), as part of the MLTC Theme of the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) East Midlands, based at the Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC).

A self-motivated, accessible and responsive Clinical Education & Research Practitioner, supporting the NIHR ARC Director, Programme Manager and Theme Leads, and the wider Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) team with project management responsibility for education and research, within the specialty of MLTCs.

The post holder will have high level communication skills enabling maintenance of high-quality education and research within a complex and challenging environment with often conflicting priorities.

- Lead the development and delivery of dissemination, training and capacity development activities for a wide range of audiences including healthcare professionals, researchers, patients and the public.
- Project manage education and research initiatives, ensuring delivery to time and target within complex environments
- Support the translation of research findings into clinical practice and policy
- Contribute to reports, publications, presentations and grant applications at local, national and international levels
- Provide supervision and line management to junior staff and contribute to capacity development across the ARC
- Ensure all work is conducted in line with ICH-GCP and research governance standards

- To undertake education, research and service development aligned with LDC priorities and strategic direction.
- Disseminate knowledge and skills in the implementation and translation of education and research outcomes into clinical practice.
- Play an active part in the dissemination of education and research outcomes, including the preparation of reports, presentations and papers locally, nationally and internationally.
- Support the submissions of grants and bids for future education and research funding.
- Leading and supporting the submission and publication of original education and research papers.
- Support delivery of NIHR and other national programmes ongoing within the wider LDC
- Present original education and research locally, nationally and internationally. Undertake Research Ethics Committee submissions and study set-up for new projects as required.
- Ensure all projects are undertaken in accordance with ICH GCP and Research Governance guidelines, being mindful of all ethical and legal considerations

**Essential**

- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent Presentation skills
- A high standard of computer literacy skills. (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team
- Ability to provide support/supervision/line management to junior staff and higher degree students.
- Maintain clinical expertise and professional credibility

### Experience

**Essential**

- At least 3 years’ experience working within the field of chronic disease
- Experience of working within the field of research and audit
- Experience of teaching staff, students and patients
- Knowledge of ICH GCP and Research Governance guidelines

**Desirable**

- Experience of working within an academic setting
- Evidence of a publication record

### Training and Qualifications

**Essential**

- A master level qualification
- Recognised professional HCP registration or substantial experience in a relevant area
- Active professional clinical research portfolio

**Desirable**

- Recognised teaching qualification or working towards

### Analytical and Judgement Skills

**Essential**

- Experience in analysing clinical and/or research data for dissemination or lay purposes

**Desirable**

- Experience in various statistical methodologies

### Planning and Organisation Skills

**Essential**

- Project management skills with experience of monitoring and evaluation
- Highly organised and evidence of excellent Planning skills
