### Job overview

Starlight Ward is seeking an enthusiastic Band 5 Children's Nurse who is passionate about delivering high-quality care to children, young people, and their families within our local community.

Starlight Ward is an 18-bed paediatric unit providing care for babies, children, and young people aged 0-16 years, with an emerging pathway for 16 and 17 year olds. We care for patients with a wide range of medical conditions, as well as day-case and emergency surgical patients.

The unit also provides High Dependency Care for deteriorating patients prior to transfer to specialist services when required. We regularly care for children and young people with learning disabilities, complex needs, and mental health conditions, offering excellent opportunities to develop specialist skills and experience.

As a Band 5 Children's Nurse, you will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, ensuring safe, compassionate, and effective care for every child and family.

We are committed to supporting your development, with access to a dedicated Practice Development Nurse, Practice Facilitator, and a wide range of training and learning opportunities to help you achieve your professional goals.

*Please note – this vacancy is not suitable for Overseas Registered Nurses required to take the OSCE exam.

Working Hours: 37.5 per week

### Main duties of the job

Main duties include:

- To work closely with clinical colleagues within children and families’ services and the Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
- To work closely with parents and carers of children and young people
- To support care programmes and care pathways
- To support the senior nurses in achieving service objectives
- To liaise appropriately with all members of the multidisciplinary team in a manner that promotes effective teamwork, participation in MDT meetings.
- To document all patient details to the required standard in relation to the admission, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care using the systems where appropriate.

We welcome informal visits so you can meet members of the team.

Interviews will be held face to face.
