An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Children’s and Young People’s Respiratory services. We are looking for a dynamic enthusiastic, skilled and confident children’s nurse to join our Children and Young People Multi-Disciplinary Respiratory Team as a Band 7 Children’s Respiratory Nurse working across Royal Stoke & County Hospitals and Community Diagnostic Centre sites within community settings.

You need to be an enthusiastic, dynamic, proactive, innovative, and highly motivated nurse. You must possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable you to work with the multidisciplinary teams in secondary, tertiary and primary care services.

All applicants will be expected to meet the essential criteria and possess the relevant post registration experience as outlined in the person specification. A development programme will be available to support training and service provision needs.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will work with clinicians and nursing staff and will provide a highly developed and effective outpatient and inpatient service for children with respiratory diseases. The post holder will demonstrate good communication, analytical and planning expertise. The post holder will be required to work autonomously, effectively and efficiently with children, parents/carers, and a variety of multidisciplinary teams including those in primary, secondary, tertiary and voluntary care settings.  The post holder will be required to travel between multiple sites. The post holder will have highly developed leadership skills and specialist clinical knowledge and expertise in the care and management of children with respiratory disorders. The post holder will lead the development and delivery of the Community Diagnostic Centre pathways, nurse led clinical aspects of the service. The post holder will develop and deliver innovative and evidence-based practice through professional leadership, supporting the clinical team to develop the specialist area of respiratory care. The post holder will contribute to the management of a quality and cost-effective service. The post holder will have a role in paediatric respiratory education, research and audit programmes that the Paediatric Respiratory department is involved in.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Current Children's Nursing Registration: RSCN/Project 2000/RN-Child
- Degree Level Nursing/Health Related Studies
- Evidence of higher level study at Masters Level; alternatively working knowledge and experience
- ARTP Spirometry

### Personal Qualities

**Essential**

- Able to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work autonomously to manage own workload.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team across all care and organisational settings.

### Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 10 years post registration experience at least 5 years experience providing respiratory care
- Ability to prioritise workload in response to service need.
- Excellent written and communication skills
- Experience of supporting child and family learning and use of competency-based assessments
