### Job summary

We have an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated physiotherapist to join the orthopaedic/musculoskeletal team on a permanent basis fulfilling 19.25 hours per week of a Band 7 role.

### Main duties of the job

The role would involve leading the service and being responsible for the other members of the team alongside the current band 7s. You will have an outpatient caseload with some clinic involvement and support the band 6 on the orthopaedic inpatient ward. The successful candidate will be joining an established team of experienced physiotherapists who cover multiple services across the childrens hospital. We are looking for Physiotherapists with: Significant post registration experience of at least 3 years within Paediatric physiotherapy. Broad experience of treating children with complex musculoskeletal conditions who are undertaking intensive treatment. Emotional resilience and experience in dealing with patients and families with poor prognosis.

Why you should join our Team

The childrens physiotherapy team is a team of approximately 40 physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants who work across Leeds Childrens Hospital. They have a wide scope of experience and enjoy developing and teaching new members of the team. The team is based on the Leeds General Infirmary site but also covers the Neonatal Unit at St James Hospital. Transport is available to move between sites for staff.

What you will bring to the role

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of specialist physiotherapy support within the orthopaedic and outpatient team. This will mainly be delivered in an outpatient and clinic environment but there may be some ward working and work in the patients own environment. The role will use highly specialist skills to manage their own complex caseload, working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team. They will be responsible for providing advanced physiotherapy assessment, advice and interventions to children and young people (0 – 16) who have orthopaedic, musculoskeletal, (occasional pain and rheumatology). They will be responsible for the day to day running of our outpatient department alongside the other band 7’s and supporting staff with their caseload, planning and supervision. As part of the wider Children's Physiotherapy team responsibilities, successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the paediatric respiratory weekend and out of hours service. There will be training and support opportunities available to ensure competencies are achieved. The successful candidate will also be involved in wider leadership and team management of Children's Physiotherapy services.

- The working pattern will require flexibility including seven day working to ensure safe and affective service provision.
- To be active member of the out of hours service.
- Frequently throughout the day there will be a requirement to undertake moderate physical activity lasting approximately 30 - 60 minutes e.g. treatment sessions involving transferring manoeuvring, mobilising patients.
- Therapeutic treatment sessions may require this post holder to undertake moving and handling tasks with patients where mechanical aids are not practical or appropriate.
- There may be the requirement for the post holder to travel between sites within Leeds Health Economy in order to best meet the needs of the service.
- The jobholder must comply at all times with the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust Infection Control policies, in particular by practising Universal Infection Control Precautions.
- The jobholder must undertake all mandatory training required for the role.
