### Job overview

Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant

£33,262 - £36,027 Inclusive HCAS pa pro rata

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Bromley Healthcare's Children's Occupational Therapy team. Working alongside qualified Occupational Therapists, you will support children and young people to develop independence, participation and functional skills within education settings. The role forms part of Bromley's Experts at Hand (EaH) model, a key element of the borough's SEND reform programme. EaH is a nationally recognised approach that brings specialist expertise directly into mainstream schools and early years settings, helping education staff build confidence, capacity and inclusive practice. The model focuses on early identification, timely intervention and improved outcomes for children and young people with additional needs. Working under the supervision of qualified Occupational Therapists, you will deliver therapeutic programmes, model strategies within classrooms, support group interventions, prepare resources, collect outcome data and contribute to training activities. You will support schools to implement the EaH offer and embed occupational therapy approaches into everyday practice. The post requires close collaboration with education staff, families and multidisciplinary colleagues across health, education and social care, helping children and young people access the right support at the right time while promoting participation, independence and inclusion.

### Main duties of the job

- To assist Occupational therapists by engaging in assessment and intervention sessions focusing on activities of daily living as directed by the therapist.
- To carry out sessions independently, which may be visits to homes, schools and nurseries, to provide support and carryover of strategies as needed. This includes modelling the use of resources and advice, complete task analysis, and reviewing goals with the Occupational Therapist.
- To facilitate and support group interventions and deliver interventions provided by the Occupational Therapy service, under the E@H offer. This will be under the direction of the therapist but completed independently without direct supervision.
- To manage the treatment of children as delegated by the therapist often working without direct supervision, and responsible for engaging and motivating children, monitoring patient progress, modifying therapy programmes and approaches, and reporting back to the therapist of any changes or seeking advice as appropriate.
- To employ appropriate approaches to support school and nursery staff to follow advice and encourage others to engage in more inclusive and neurodiverse practices.
- To aid the therapist in the preparation and management of intervention groups for children.

Interviews expected to be held week commencing 9th Nov 26
