### Job summary

Are you about to finish your degree and looking for your first job or perhaps a working already and looking for a new challenge? An exciting opportunity has opened up for an additional Band 5 to join our ICAN Occupational Therapy team.

The job involves working with children and young people with health needs, and their families, to identify functional/participation needs, set collaborative goals and advise on strategies to achieve these goals. Initially this may done within a face to face clinic session or telephone call; follow up sessions may be required by telephone, in clinic, home or education settings, including the Specialist Inclusive Learning Centres. You will contribute to EHCPs and work with other agencies i.e. social care and CHAD OT team. For our complex caseload you will assess, recommend and review specialist equipment covering seating, toileting, bathing and moving and handling. You will also offer more specialist advice and strategies to meet goals, closely working with the physios around night-time positioning and moving and handling.

### Main duties of the job

If you are the right candidate, you will have a strong desire to support children and families achieve the goals important to them. You will have experience working in the community with some experience of childrens need and clinical knowledge of occupation-centred practice. Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential with applicants able to manage a caseload, support the wider MDT and deliver of a range of interventions across the service. You will have opportunity to develop specialist skills and knowledge in assessment and interventions (including provision of specialist equipment) and theoretical knowledge. You will be self-motivated, collaborative and willing to participate in designing and delivering new models of care. You will be supported to manage your own caseload, plan your own diary, delegate work to our OT supporter worker colleagues whilst progressing through the Band 5 competencies to become an autonomous practitioner. You will have evidence of continuing professional development and some knowledge of the Children and Families Act. You will have opportunities to support students on placement.
