An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nurse with significant experience of working with Children in Care, to join our caring and compassionate team who wants to make a real difference to the children we work with.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity to be part of a trauma informed innovative team, become an expert nurse, use your clinical analysis skills autonomously, and be an evidenced-based practitioner.

We are seeking a nurse who can comprehensively assess the health, development and social-emotional needs of both the 0-5 and 5-18 age group. So applications from experienced Health Visitors or SCPHN qualified colleagues are particularly invited.

Applicants must have confident report writing skills, be able to work independently, have significant safeguarding experience, the ability to plan, prioritise and time manage their own workload. Applicants will need to be able to work well under pressure and be emotionally resilient practitioners.

To directly support Children in Care and young people leaving care, to reach their full potential by achieving the best possible health outcomes.

Ensure statutory responsibilities are met by offering timely, person centred assessments and interventions in line with Statutory Guidance.  As part of a caseload covering 0-18, for children living both in and outside of Coventry.

Support the Named and Specialist Children in Care professionals, in providing a needs-led, individual outcomes focussed, accessible health offer to children and young people.

To provide advice, support and training; including the provision of specialist advice to professionals in relation to improving the health and well-being outcomes of Children in Care.

To take part in audits and peer reviews, to improve quality, standards and make improvements to our service.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The role of the Children in Care Nurse is to work with other Health and Social Care services to support specialist health care delivery within a multi-professional Children in Care team. We are looking for an experienced practitioner who will work with and advocate for, Children in Care & young people to promote their best health outcomes.

Clinically, you will be expected to independently manage your own case load, managing your time to conduct holistic statutory Review Health Assessments (RHAs) and writing comprehensive Children in Care Leavers Health Summaries - living inside and outside Coventry. You will also act as a point of contact for professional liaison, take part in a duty rota and attend safeguarding meetings.

You will be expected to work within the local specification and national guidance to respond to Children in Care and young people, their carers and others supporting them. You may be required to travel across the country to engage with Coventry’s Children in Care who are placed out of city.

### Qualifications

- nurse /midwife qualification and registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC)

### Knowledge & Skills

- Ability to independently assess, plan implement and evaluate programmes of quality care for highly complex & vulnerable children & young people
- Ability to independently write comprehensive reports
- An understanding of Working Together to Safeguard Children and other supporting legislation / guidance
