An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Band 7 Cath Lab Cardiac Physiologist to join London North West University Healthcare NHS.  The successful candidate will be an experienced invasive physiologist with minimum two years’ Band 6  Cath Lab experience and a degree in BSc Cariad Physiology / Cardiac Tech.  They will be competent in haemodynamic monitoring during complex procedures including PCI, RHS/LHS study, CTO and intra-coronary imaging and will support cardiac rhythm management service including pacemakers, implantable loop recorders and complex devices.  The role includes independent reporting, clinical supervision of junior staff, and contributing to training and service development within a busy and progressive department.

Developmental applications will be considered from candidates who meet most of the essential criteria and demonstrate the potential to progress into the Band 7 Role.

### Main duties of the job

To be proficient as an independent practitioner in invasive and non-invasive cardiology procedures.  To be able to work independently in the invasive Cardiac Catheter Laboratory service, performing unsupervised monitoring of invasive intra-cardiac pressures, ECG intracoronary imaging on clinically high-risk cardiac patients.    To assist the Cardiologist on the insertion Permanent Pacemaker, implantable loop and complex devices and be responsible for checks in the pacing follow-up clinic, this will require the post holder to analyze complex data and recognize when to re-program parameters as per  manufacturer and departmental procedure and protocols.   To be able to independently perform simple and complex device follow up clinics, optimizing devices, and escalating findings where necessary.   To take responsibility to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation on patients in an emergency.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge and experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 2 years experience of working in Cath Lab at a band 6 level
- Ability to use Balloon Pump, IVUS, FFR, IFR and OCT machines.
- Underpinning Knowledge of CRM, including implantation and follow-up.
- Ability to interpret data, write reports and give appropriate advice to patients, staff, junior medical personnel, GPs and consultants.
- Expertise in the management of patients with complex implanted devices including biventricular systems

**Desirable**

- Knowledge of strategic issues which influence the area of practice at local and national level.
- Knowledge and experience of echocardiography.
- Experience in leading a team.

### Education/ qualifications

**Essential**

- BSc degree in Clinical Physiology/ Cardiac Tech degree
- ILS Accredited
- BHRS/IBHRE or BSE Accredited or working towards accreditation

**Desirable**

- Evidence of continuing education
- ALS

### Skills, abilities and attributes

**Essential**

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Good teaching skills.
- Able to work flexibly across the sites.

**Desirable**

- Experience in auditing
- IT and presentation skills
