We are seeking an exceptional and highly motivated Chief Aseptic Services Technician to lead our CIVAS and Parenteral Nutrition (PN) services. The Chief technician reports to the accountable pharmacist and is responsible for providing operational leadership to a the aseptic services team, ensuring the safe, efficient and compliant preparation and supply of high-risk injectable medicines and outsourced nutrition. The post holder will play a key role in maintaining and developing the Pharmaceutical Quality System, driving continuous improvement, managing staff performance and development, and ensuring delivery of service objectives aligned with Trust priorities. Working closely with pharmacy, nursing and clinical colleagues, you will help shape the future of aseptic services while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, quality assurance and operational excellence.

### Main duties of the job

- To act as the technical lead for the St Thomas’ CIVAS & PN technical team ensuring a high quality, effective and efficient aseptic services that meets the needs of patients and staff.
- To support the development and implementation of strategy for STH MCU on existing and new projects as they arise.
- To manage the day-to-day operation of STH CIVAS & PN working collaboratively with staff in the unit and wider pharmacy and clinical teams.
- To ensure the requirements of the quality management system are complied with and implemented as required by the Quality Assurance of Aseptic Preparation Services (QAAPS), national and NHS guidance.
- To work with the Clinical Trials team in delivering CIVAS based clinical trials for GSTT and commercial sponsored trials to ensure full preparation and clinical regulatory compliance.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Provide operational leadership for the CIVAS & PN service, ensuring safe, effective and efficient service delivery.
- Lead, manage and develop the aseptic technical workforce, including recruitment, training, competency assessment and performance management.
- Ensure compliance with the Pharmaceutical Quality Management System, QAAPS standards, GMP requirements and national guidance.
- Oversee quality assurance activities, audits, investigations, incident management, CAPAs and continuous improvement programmes.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures and SOPs to support regulatory compliance and best practice.
- Support strategic projects, service expansion and the delivery of aseptic clinical trials.
- Manage staffing resources, operational planning, stock control and supplier contracts to maintain service continuity.
- Build collaborative relationships across pharmacy, clinical services and external partners to drive innovation and service improvement.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have regular contact with vulnerable people and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Demonstrated knowledge of the validation requirements for pharmaceutical facilities, equipment and products
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of professionals and patients within a hospital setting
- Demonstrated ability to adjust plans and organise a number of different operations to ensure all targets are met.
- Demonstrated ability to train and assess others in a GMP compliant manner
- Demonstrated ability to apply specialist knowledge GMP, GCP, Quality Assurance to ensure a safe and effective service provision

### Experience

**Essential**

- Demonstrated experience of operationally managing and planning aseptic supply services with extensive experience of aseptic services
- Managing a pharmaceutical quality management system and the identification and reduction of risk
- Multidisciplinary working within professions involved in the supply of aseptic doses with extensive experience of working within a multidisciplinary CIVAS, PN or Chemotherapy service

### Qualifications

- Registered Pharmacy Technician
- Post graduate technical services qualification or equivalent demonstrated portfolio of experience and short courses
