### Job overview

Are you a highly motivated, forward thinking, registered nurse with an interest in developing your career within oncology/haematology chemotherapy?

We are looking for a Band 5 nurse, with experience in IV therapy and cannulation who is interested in working with chemotherapy/SACT patients within our busy nurse-led Macmillan chemotherapy day unit.

You will be supported  developing your skills, and knowledge within this specialist field alongside completing the SACT university module and the SACT Passport.

### Main duties of the job

- To ensure that an individual programme of care is planned, implemented and evaluated for each patient within own sphere of responsibility.
- To work as part of the multidisciplinary team ensuring the delivery of a high standard of care to the patients.
- Support patients and carers in their information needs
- To participate in all relevant aspects of the Governance process.
- The post holder will adhere to the NMC code of Professional Conduct at all times and ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
- To safely administer chemotherapy in keeping with local and national policy
- To act as a positive role model at all times.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge & Experien

**Essential**

- - Minimum of 12 months post registration experience in an acute clinical setting.

**Desirable**

- Previously worked with cancer patients

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- - First Level registration nursing qualification.
- - Evidence of continuing professional development
- - IV drug administration certificate.

**Desirable**

- - Recognised Chemotherapy qualification or equivalent
- - Relevant post-registration qualification in cancer
- - Assessors /Mentorship qualification

### Skills, Abilities and Attributes

**Essential**

- - Cannulation and phlebotomy skills
- - Medication administration skills, including IV administration
- - IT skills
- - Able to communicate effectively and sensitively with people of all capabilities and attitudes

**Desirable**

- - Competent in the care and management of CVADs
