Within the hospital environment, candidates must be willing to engage with all patients, relatives, staff, and to work with all chaplaincy colleagues regardless of denomination, gender, faith or belief. It is expected that chaplaincy volunteers will be recognised within and be approved by either their own denomination, faith or belief group, be in good standing within their own faith/belief community and ideally, have demonstrated previous pastoral experience. ### Main duties of the job - Approaching patients with respect and clearly introducing yourself and your role - Listening attentively to patients or carers stories - Promoting the work of the Chaplaincy more broadly - Building positive relationships with patients, staff, and visitors - Offering to pray with patients upon request, or connecting them with someone who can - Referring patients to a Duty Chaplain for additional pastoral support when needed - Where authorised by their denomination, some volunteers may administer Holy Communion at the bedside - Participating in team discussions and required training sessions - Ensuring accurate documentation and compliance with professional and organisational policies - Reporting to the Lead Chaplain ### About us The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust (TRFT) is a combined acute and community Trust serving our local population of around 270,000 people.
