The Catering Department at Hallam Street Hospital requires a customer focused catering assistant to work in our patient catering department and restaurant. Duties will include the preparation and serving of in-patient meals and beverages across the hospital or working in our patient, staff and visitor restaurant. Duties will also include cleaning, cash handling and an element of paperwork in relation to local HACCP. ### Main duties of the job We are looking for someone with excellent customer service skills and able to work independently as well as part of a very busy team. You must be able to follow and adhere to CQC, environmental health, catering and trust legislation and standards, at all times. You will be responsible for ensuring departmental HACCP and COSHH are adhered to and paperwork is complete. The candidate must be able work to under pressure, be self-motivated, customer focused. Knowledge of Food safety is essential, mandatory training will be given on induction. ### Detailed job description and main responsibilities The Estates & Facilities departmental objective is to ensure delivery of a safe and high-quality catering service for the benefit of its service users and staff. Previous experience working in a catering facility and working in a Mental Health/learning Disabilities service is desirable. Essential candidates should have a good basic education, and ability to read and write and have numerical skills. Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification, NVQ level 1 in Food Preparation or equivalent experience ## Person Specification ### Knowledge **Essential** - Must have a good understanding of personal hygiene ### Experience **Desirable** - Must have experience of working in a Mental Health/learning Disabilities service - Experience of working in a Catering Facility ### Education/Qualifications **Essential** - Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification - NVQ level 1 in Food Preparation /equivalent experience - Good basic education – ability to read and write numerical skills ### Skills/Personal qualities **Essential** - Must have a good knowledge of Health & Safety including COSSH, safe systems of Cleaning Tasks.
