Join Us as the Care Group Pharmacist for Women & Newborn at University Hospital Southampton

A rare and exciting opportunity has opened within our Women & Newborn Care Group due to the retirement of our much valued post holder. We’re looking for a passionate, forward thinking Care Group Pharmacist to become a key part of our dynamic clinical pharmacy team at University Hospital Southampton.

As part of Division C (Family Health & Support Services), you’ll work closely with the Lead Neonatal Pharmacist and Divisional Lead Pharmacist, supported by a dedicated Band 7 Women’s Health Pharmacist and rotational colleagues. This is your chance to shape and elevate the clinical pharmacy service across Women’s Health, Maternity, Foetal Medicine and Neonatal care.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

What You’ll Lead & Deliver

In this influential role, you’ll be at the heart of improving medicines use, patient safety and clinical outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Developing evidence based treatment guidelines alongside specialist consultants
- Strengthening interface working with primary care and community partners
- Reviewing and enhancing maternity PGDs
- Overseeing high cost and specialist medicines, including homecare and outpatient pathways
- Expanding the pharmacist prescriber role within Women’s Health
- Providing expert patient and carer education to support safe, confident medicines use
- Teaching and mentoring pharmacists, students, midwives and wider MDT colleagues
- Playing an active role within the Division C pharmacy team and the wider pharmacy department
- Engaging in audit, research and conference presentations ________________________________________ Who We’re Looking For

### Qualifications, knowledge and experience

**Essential**

- Masters Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent.
- Registered with General Pharmaceutical Council.
- Postgraduate diploma in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
- Can demonstrate Advanced Stage 1 competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework in relation to medical or surgical patients
- Sound knowledge of clinical pharmacy services acquired while working within a suitable specialty.
- Experience of audit and evaluative work
- Teaching and tutoring experience
- Experience of supervising others
- Experience of implementing change and change management
- Development and implementation of guidelines and procedures.
- Commitment to CPD, Lifelong learning and Practice Research

**Desirable**

- MSc in clinical pharmacy or equivalent experience.
- Management qualification or equivalent experience
- Independent Prescribing qualification.
- Project Management training or qualification
- Leadership qualification or experience
- Sound understanding of healthcare priorities and political agendas.
- Training in medicines information.
- Can demonstrate Advanced Stage 2 or Mastery competencies in the RPS Advanced Pharmacy Framework in relation to medical or surgical patients
- Experience of managing others
- Use of JAC or Metavision prescribing systems
- Understanding of Health Economics
