### Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Research Coordinator to join the Cardiology Research Team and Clinical Research Facility (CRF) at St George’s University Hospitals, NHS Foundation Trust.

We are conducting research studies and clinical trials for the full spectrum of cardiovascular diseases including coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart rhythm disorders, heart failure, sports cardiology and inherited cardiac diseases including diseases of the thoracic aorta.

### Main duties of the job

This role will be supported by the cardiology research nurses sharing the responsible for the day-to-day delivery of a portfolio of Cardiology clinical studies. The role will involve supporting the Principal Investigators and specialist cardiology research nurses in setting up and managing Phase II to Phase IV studies.

### Applicant requirements

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.

### Skills

**Essential**

- Excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent IT skills including access excel and power point.
- Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Understanding of the aetiology of cardiac diseases mainly heart failure.
- Comprehensive knowledge of clinical trials and regulation governing clinical research including the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) guidelines.
- Medical terminology and cardiac investigations.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience working in cardiology ward or clinical trial setting.
- Experience of managing the care of cardiology patients or patients involved in a research study.
- Experience dealing with the general public
- Experience working in a team on joint projects.

**Desirable**

- Experience in the NHS
- Experience in being involved in the management of the care of Heart Failure patients.
- Experiences in project management
- Experience of Clinical Laboratory work
- Experience of working with Research Governance policies and issues

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Life sciences degree, or equivalent experience.

**Desirable**

- Recent GCP training or qualification in research/clinical trials.
