Cardiac Disease Risk Management Exercise Professional

Wexham Park Hospital

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Cardiac Disease Risk Management Exercise Professional to join our multidisciplinary team at Wexham Park Hospital.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting patients recovering from cardiac events and those living with cardio-respiratory conditions. You will help patients improve their physical fitness, confidence and overall cardiovascular health through safe, effective and individually tailored exercise programmes.

Working as part of our Cardiac Disease Risk Management Service, you will contribute to the assessment, exercise prescription and delivery of rehabilitation programmes, ensuring patients receive high-quality, evidence-based support throughout their recovery.

The role also provides opportunities to contribute to clinical audit, research and service improvement, helping to develop and maintain high standards of practice within cardiac rehabilitation.

### Main duties of the job

Exercise prescription: Designing safe, appropriate exercise programmes for patients with cardiac and cardio-respiratory conditions.

Exercise delivery: Supervising and delivering exercise sessions as part of the multidisciplinary team (MDT). Patient assessment:

Taking part in initial and final assessments of patients entering and completing the cardiac disease risk management programme.

Clinical safety: Ensuring exercise is appropriate for patients recovering from cardiac events and those with existing cardio-respiratory disease.

Evidence-based practice: Keeping exercise prescription aligned with current research, guidelines and best practice.

Audit and research: Participating in clinical audit, research and evidence-based improvement projects.

Service improvement: Helping introduce changes to practice and monitoring whether standards and outcomes are maintained.

### Applicant requirements

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Leading and delivering group exercise sessions
- Experience working in Cardiac Rehab

**Desirable**

- Exercise prescription to people with long term conditions
- Assessing levels of cardiovascular fitness (functional capacity testing - walking or step tests)

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Reps 4 Registration or equivalent in Cardiac Rehab
- BACPR Phase IV instructor training

**Desirable**

- Current First Aid certificate
- Basic Life Support certificate

### Skills and Knowledge

**Essential**

- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to manage challenging situations
- Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others
- Innovative and enthusiastic
- Able to prioritise workload and meet deadlines

### Special Requirements

**Essential**

- Ability to be able to travel between sites
