- We are looking for a dynamic and creative Child Psychotherapist with substantial evidence of competence and experience in working with infants and young children and their parents/carers and families to offer a range of evidence-based interventions with an emphasis in the perinatal population.
Child Psychotherapy is well-established in the 0-5 team and in the wider CAMHS service. The post-holder will become a member of the South Beds CAPTS discipline group which includes Lead and Principal Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists providing service supervision and clinical supervision; Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist (CAPT); Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy Trainees (CAPTT); and Assistant Child and Adolescent Psychotherapists (ACAPT).

### Main duties of the job

- The successful candidate will join the Luton Parent and Infant Relationships 0-5 Team (PAIR), which aims to offer support to infants in the first 5 years of life (including in pregnancy) and to their caregivers experiencing parent-infant relationship difficulties. This includes infants with a range of presentations and parents with mild to moderate mental health concerns past or present, risking the parent-infant relationship. This work also extends to fathers, co-parents and the overall familial relationship with the infant, with the attachment relationship remaining the focus of the work. The 0-5 team is commissioned to work with families who have mild to moderate attachment difficulties.

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- - Advanced practical knowledge of working in the community, in family hubs, and with the extended professional network
- - Knowledge of psychological theories of childhood development and an understanding of implication for clinical activity.
- - Knowledge of recent legislation and its implications for both clinical practice and professional management and mental health in relation to children and their families.

**Desirable**

- - Advanced practical knowledge in area of children under five and their physical and emotional development

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Experience of working in a CAMHS setting
- - Experience of working in a community setting
- - Experience of working with parents/carers and their infants and/or young children
- - Experience of working with brief models with children under five and their parents/carers

**Desirable**

- - Leadership experience
- - Experience of working with patients where English is not their first language

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- - Qualified as Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist
- - Infant Mental Health training

**Desirable**

- - Specialism in psycho-dynamics of Parent-Infant Relationships (PAIR) or PIP (Parent Infant Psychotherapy
- - Postgraduate Diploma/MA in Psychoanalytical Observational Studies and/or Clinical Doctorate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy)
- - Registered member of ACP
- - Parent-infant/young child therapeutic modalities (individual and group)
