The Capital Estates Planner plays a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and ongoing enhancement of the organisation’s community estates portfolio within the Group. This position involves collaborating closely with the Associate Director of Estates, contributing to the planning, development, and optimisation of assets across the estate.

There will be times when the individual will across work on joint schemes that benefit the provision of healthcare estates across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Community and Hospitals NHS Group.

By supporting improvements and ensuring effective stewardship of resources, the Capital Estates Planner helps create environments that positively impact lives within our communities.

### Main duties of the job

Work closely with the Associate Director of Estates (Communities)  to deliver improvements, maintain standards, and support organisational objectives.

Lead the planning and execution of capital projects, which supports the ongoing development and enhancement of the Estates portfolio and assets.

Collaborate with stakeholders, including senior management and external contractors, to identify requirements and develop effective solutions for estate improvements.

Monitor the ongoing development and enhancement of estate assets, maintaining compliance with relevant regulations and best practice standards.

Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate progress, risks, and recommendations to the Associate Director of Estates and other key decision makers.

Support the strategic management of capital investment, contributing to long-term planning and optimisation of estate resources'

Monitor and support project progress, budgets, and compliance, whilst liaising with relevant stakeholders and teams.

- Must be able to meet the travel requirements of the post

### Experience

- Proven experience of estates related contract management or health planning
- Proven experience of budgets and managing cost improvement programmes
- Experience of managing capital projects
- Experience of project management
- Experience of managing information and effective report production

### Knowledge and Skills

**Essential**

- Knowledge of construction, especially the development, adaptation and refurbishment of buildings
- Understands generic project management and management of risk concepts
- High level of capability in the presentation of written documents and presentations
- Able to act with a high degree of autonomy, managing own workload and overseeing technical projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; adept at analysing complex data, drawing out key points and summarising effectively
- Effective budget management skills, and experience of managing high value project budgets on time, and within allocated resources
- Understanding of NHS corporate governance, risk management and assurance requirements
- Knowledge of Health Technical Memorandums (HTM), Health Building Notes (HBN) and Construction and Design Management (CDM) regulations documents

### Training and Qualifications

**Essential**

- Specialist works and building knowledge including legislation to degree level or equivalent, post graduate knowledge through training
- Evidence of, and commitment to, Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
- Membership of an appropriate professional body (e.g., Institution of Chartered Surveyors or Engineers)
