### Job overview

The main purpose of the MDT Co-ordinator role is to support the clinical team and patient pathways at the Cancer MDT Meeting to ensure that the Trust meets the requirements of the national Cancer Waiting Time Standards. This will involve collecting data from a variety of sources and entering the data items into the Trust’s cancer database Somerset. The post holder will need excellent organisational and communication skills and a good attention for detail to be successful in the role.

### Main duties of the job

The post holder will be supporting the cross cover of all tumour sites with dedicated time to support the Gynaecology MDT meetings where required.

They will work with the clinical teams and liaise closely with their band 4 tracker to ensure all patients receive the upmost care. The post holder will ensure that all patients progress through their pathway post MDT, ensuring all treatment plans and next steps are in place or escalated. The aim of an MDTC is to provide the highest quality of care to patients and ensure they are being processed effectively and efficiently through the cancer pathway.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Arrange, cover and co-ordinate the weekly/fortnightly/monthly MDT meetings for designated specialties to ensure they are run in accordance with the MDT requirements for Cancer Services - this includes meetings outside of the main treatment MDTs, such as, Diagnostic MDTs.
- Ensure all areas of the MDT are prepped in line with the requirements of the MDT, specific list needs, imaging and all required documentation as well as arranging where required pre and post MDT meetings
- Ensure that all required cancer outcomes and service data set (COSD) and Audit data is captured during the MDT meeting and transferred onto Somerset - this will include Staging Data, Performance scores, CNS present at diagnosis, next steps and other vital data. Ensure prompts are issued at MDT when this does not occur.
- The MDT Coordinator must review data uploaded on Somerset to ensure accuracy and completeness and arrange to meet weekly with the MDT lead and/or lead CNS to validate this.
- Circulate and collect an attendance register for the MDT meetings and maintain an electronic record of attendance for core members.
- Ensure a clinical member of staff is documenting outcomes from the start of the MDT
- Ensure accurate minutes of the MDT are circulated to the distribution list post MDT.
- Ensure that every patient with a cancer diagnosis is discussed at an MDT meeting.
- Ensure delays in patient’s pathway are escalated to services so they can be resolved, for example: diagnostic tests.
- Ensure actions are raised on the Federated Data platform (FDP 360) Tool for next steps required and updates are tracked tracking accordingly.
- Ensure actions not responded to on the Federated Data platform (FDP 360) Tool are escalated appropriately to the next level.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with counterparts in other local Trusts.
- Ensure clinician completes a referral proforma and liaise with the appropriate MDT Co-ordinator for patients requiring discussion at a specialist MDT at another hospital (Imperial, The Royal Marsden & Chelsea & Westminster). Ensure that any imaging and pathology slides are sent to the other hospital in time for the MDT meeting.
- Monitor the generic inbox and ensure any patient requiring upgrade is added to the Somerset Cancer Registry (SCR) database in line with the process
- Correct and update any validations in relation to COSD and other required data monitored audits.
