### Job overview

The post holder will be responsible for providing information required for the routine monitoring of cancer patients on their treatment pathways. The postholder will be responsible for the collation and entry of data to identify what stage of the pathway patients have reached. The postholder will be responsible for collating, inputting and validating a wide range of data related to cancer supports to support the submission of local and national cancer audits.

### Main duties of the job

This role is responsible for supporting cancer data collection and management across local and national audit programmes. The post holder will ensure accurate and timely data entry into the Somerset Cancer Register (SCR) and other Trust systems, using multiple data sources including ICE, CRIS, Cerner, and patient records.

The role involves close collaboration with clinical teams and leads to support data collection processes, resolve queries, and contribute to continuous improvement. Responsibilities include maintaining Cancer Waiting Times data, registering new patients, summarising patient pathways, and providing regular progress updates.

The post holder will prioritise workload to meet strict deadlines, provide guidance to colleagues on cancer audit requirements, and support wider departmental objectives. The role also requires effective teamwork and representation of Cancer Services at specialty level.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

To be responsible for collating and entering data into SCR for both local and national audit projects, ensuring a high level of data accuracy and completion rates. 2) Utilising all sources of hospital data i.e. it systems e.g. ICE, CRIS, Cerner and health records to retrieve data 3) Ensure regular communication with designated clinical leads and teams to support the data collection process, to advise on any queries or issues identified, amending and updating processes as required and capturing any recommendations and actions in relation to process changes 4) To support the Cancer Data Manager and designated clinical leads by providing regular updates and reports on progress with designated measurement activity 5) Ensuring all data items required for Cancer Waiting Times database are captured in the Trusts Cancer Information system. 6) Inputting new patient registrations accurately onto the trusts Cancer information system. 7) Summarise patient pathways for review and analysis. 8) To prioritise own workload to meet the needs of the departments deadlines, demonstrating good time management skills and escalating difficulties / risks in meeting deadlines in a timely manner to clinical leads / line management etc. 9) Provide guidance, advice and support for team members and staff throughout the Trust in relation to Cancer audits. 10) To undertake additional ad-hoc duties to contribute to the completion of departmental objectives, i.e. data collection, data inputting, progress reports etc. 11) To be motivated to work together as a team supporting colleagues, sharing ideas / good practice with others,

- Experience in data collection methodology
