This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Mental Health Nurses to work within the CAMHS Crisis Liaison/Single Point of Access Team  based in Tonteg Hospital.

The CAMHS Service has a number of bases across the locality  which includes Tonteg Hospital,  Carnegie Clinic in Rhondda, Keir Hardie University Health Park (KHHP) in Merthyr and  Princess of Wales Hospital, Bridgend.

### Main duties of the job

The post holders will manage their own caseload and provide timely assessment, risk management and follow up intervention for children and young people presenting in crisis related to mental health e.g. acute psychosis, eating disorder or intent to inflict harm upon themselves and/or others.

To provide triage, assessments of all referrals in to the service, establish the most appropriate sign posting and allocation of the referral to meet the needs of the young person.

Welsh Skills Desirable: This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; whilst the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, we'll consider it an advantage when short-listing and selecting candidates. This isn’t ‘fluency’, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above. Level 3 means basic conversations with patients about their everyday health. ### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant post-registration experience, including working with children and young people in a variety of settings.
- Substantial experience of working with children and young people with complex and diverse mental health needs.
- Experience of assessing children and young people, presenting with challenging, high risk
- Ability to formulate risk management plans and programmes of care. Clinical and theoretical teaching in a range of contexts.
- Working knowledge of Clinical Governance. Evidence of implementing innovation and change in clinical practice. Evidence of undertaking clinical audit and/or research in clinical practice.
- Experience and management of working with families in distress and high expressed emotion

**Desirable**

- Experience in a range of clinical settings. Working knowledge of Primary Care Teams.

**Essential**

- Organisational ability and time management skills. Advanced clinical assessment skills of children and young people presenting with mental health difficulties. Crisis assessment skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to prioritise and problem solve. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Keyboard/word processing skills. Ability to present information clearly.
- Good negotiating skills. Facilitation/Presentation and Teaching skills. Clinical competency across a range of clinical skills. De-escalation skills and application in practice.
- Ability to demonstrate sound clinical knowledge and awareness of current evidence base relevant to the area of practice.

**Desirable**

- Welsh language speaking/listening skills at Level 3 or above

- Professional knowledge acquired through Degree in Nursing, Social Work, or Occupational Therapy.
- Evidence of relevant post registration continuing Professional Development.
- Specialist knowledge, skills and experience for working in the community within specialist area.
- Advanced knowledge of Nursing Speciality.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Measures. Knowledge of audit and research. Knowledge of Adult Protection and Child Protection policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance. Knowledge of Infection Prevention and Control Procedures. Sound working knowledge of the Welsh Government’s Strategies, National Frameworks and NICE Guidelines. Undertaken and maintain updates in restraint of patients/clients.

**Desirable**

- Teaching and assessing qualification. Clinical Leadership qualification/training. Clinical Supervision qualification/training
