Please note for this role you will need the ability to travel independently and in a timely manner across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to meet strict time deadlines.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of a volunteer-led service for end-of-life patients living in the community across Fenland and St Ives.

The overall aim of the project is to enhance compassionate care for people at the end of life across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. You will coordinate a project that has the potential to make a meaningful difference to individuals and their families, supporting people to live and die well.

The successful candidate will bring experience in volunteer coordination or administration, alongside excellent organisational, communication, and networking skills. You will be supported by the CPFT Voluntary Services team, with bespoke training and ongoing guidance to support you in recruiting and developing volunteers.

The role requires a flexible, hybrid approach, with travel across Fenland, St Ives, and the wider region, including attendance at in-person meetings and events. Due to the nature of volunteer recruitment, some evening and weekend working will be required.

### Main duties of the job

Support the ongoing delivery and development of the Community Butterfly Volunteer Service, ensuring it continues to provide meaningful benefits to patients, staff, volunteers, and local communities.

Take day-to-day responsibility for the recruitment, selection, onboarding, training, feedback, and ongoing support of Butterfly Volunteers.

Coordinate and oversee volunteer activity, ensuring volunteers are well-supported, appropriately deployed, and working within agreed boundaries.

Support the Head of Charity and Voluntary Services Manager in the growth and promotion of the service, helping to increase volunteer involvement in palliative and end-of-life care across the community.

Contribute to monitoring and evaluating the impact of the service, supporting continuous improvement and sustainability.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

1. Take day-to-day responsibility for the recruitment, interview, selection, training, and management of Butterfly Volunteers, who provide support and companionship to end-of-life patients, including those with limited social contact or where families require respite.

2. Work as part of CPFT Voluntary Services and with the Trust charity, Head to Toe to attract, recruit, and retain a diverse and committed group of Butterfly Volunteers.

3. Ensure all Butterfly Volunteers meet CPFT governance requirements and maintain compliance through regular updates.

4. Lead on the day-to-day delivery of the Community Butterfly Service in Fenland and St Ives, supporting improvements in patient experience and ensuring effective coordination of volunteer activity.

5. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records using the volunteer management system (Assemble).

6. Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders, including CPFT services, Head to Toe, community nursing teams, The Anne Robson Trust, NHSE, and Helpforce.

7. Support the Voluntary Services Manager and Head of Charity in monitoring and evaluating the service, including tracking volunteer recruitment and activity against agreed targets.

8. Provide regular updates and reports to the Voluntary Services Manager, Head of Charity, steering group, and senior managers.

9. Build and maintain relationships with community groups, voluntary organisations, healthcare providers, and VCSE partners across the region.

10. Adhere to and promote confidentiality, GDPR, and information governance standards at all times, undertaking relevant training and applying guidance in practice.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working within a Voluntary Services Department and working with volunteers
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- Proven organisational skills

**Desirable**

- Experience of working with volunteers in an NHS or health setting

### Knowledge & Skills

**Essential**

- An understanding of what it means to have a positive volunteering experience
- Excellent communication skills – oral, written and telephone
- Excellent customer care skills
- Methodical and well organised and proven ability to prioritise demanding workload

### Education / Qualifications

- Knowledge and understanding of the governance needed for the recruitment of volunteers
