Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust is seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking Business & Performance Manager to join our Business Information, Performance & Contracts team. In this newly created role, you will help strengthen operational assurance, support service improvement and give leaders the insight they need to make confident decisions for patients and communities.

### Main duties of the job

The role will provide high-level business and performance support across the Trust, bringing together insight, governance and practical action to strengthen operational delivery. Working with service leaders, analysts and partners, you will coordinate assurance activity, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and ensure complex information is translated into clear priorities and decisions.

- Lead the preparation and coordination of operational assurance activity, ensuring leaders receive accurate, timely and meaningful information.
- Work in partnership with operational teams and analytical colleagues to improve performance, governance and service planning.
- Support priority programmes and service developments, using evidence to track progress, resolve issues and maintain momentum.
- Interpret complex data, test its reliability and present a clear, balanced narrative for senior audiences.
- Build trusted relationships across organisational boundaries and communicate with confidence, diplomacy and credibility.
- Manage competing priorities with autonomy, sound judgement, resilience and close attention to detail.
- Bring strong business management, analytical and problem-solving skills, alongside a commitment to Caring, Pioneering and Inclusive ways of working.

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

- Arrange and administer monthly Operational Assurance and Support meetings, ensuring all necessary information is collated for effective governance, and that appropriate information and escalations are shared with the Executive Assurance and Support meetings.
- Support operations with general business management requirements, acting as a key contact for business processes.
- Lead and support priority service areas, including Hospital at Home and other identified initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the Operational Business Partner – Data Analyst (Band 7) to ensure integrated business and performance management.
- Communicate and interact with a wide range of stakeholders, including senior managers, service leads, and external partners.
- Manage the administration and coordination of business information to support decision-making.
- Accountable for the accuracy and timeliness of information provided for governance and operational meetings.
- Participate in policy/service development and improvement activities as required.
- May hold delegated responsibility for budgets or resources, depending on service needs.
- Ensure high standards of patient/customer care in all business management activities.
- Operate with a degree of autonomy, under the management of the Head of Business Information and Performance.
- Maintain resilience and professionalism in a role that may require high levels of mental and emotional effort, including dealing with unpredictable situations and occasionally distressing or demanding elements
- Undertake regular audits on data to ensure that reports are accurate

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- Proven experience in performance reporting, governance, and business planning within healthcare or similar complex environments.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to interpret and present complex data clearly to varied audiences.
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and build effective relationships with colleagues and stakeholders
- Regularly responsible for providing training in own discipline
- Understanding of NHS performance frameworks, governance standards, and contractual requirements
- Familiarity with health service reforms and operational performance standards
- Experience with capacity and demand modelling
- Knowledge of statistical process control and benchmarking frameworks
- Ability to lead and develop change initiatives
- Resilience and professionalism in handling demanding or unpredictable situations
- Commitment to the Trust’s values: Caring, Pioneering and Inclusive

**Desirable**

- knowledge of Power BI and SQL desirable

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Relevant qualifications and previous experience in business management, performance management, or a related field.
