The Estates department at Furness General Hospital is a group of highly skilled electrical, mechanical and plumbing engineers, creative building craftpersons, and dedicated support staff. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic Building Services Engineer to join us. You should be either an experienced and time served Electrician, Plumber, or Mechanical Fitter, looking to progress your career. The successful candidate will work as part of a 24/7 rota - which includes protected rest days – to provide 24/7 Estates cover to the Furness General Hospital and Millom Hospital sites. ### Main duties of the job If you thrive on problem solving, this is the role for you. You will be part of a team which ensures the safe and continuous operation of a major hospital site. This role is challenging and comes with responsibility, but is also highly rewarding. Daily tasks involve maintenance of building and engineering plant and equipment, in a safe manner, and in accordance with statutory requirements and codes of practice, to a high standard. Depending on your shift, you could be the department’s point of contact for all out of hours incidents and breakdowns, carrying out first line assessment, fault finding, repair, substitute of service and/or safe isolation - as required. You will be expected to take on the role of (dependant on trade and after full training) an appointed Authorised Person for Estates disciplines such as water, medical gases, electrical safety, ventilation, and decontamination.
