A great opportunity has arisen for a Building Operative within our Capital Estates and & Facilities Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne.

To work a 37.5hour week, on a 4 days on 2 days off shift pattern working early and late shifts, either early 0800-1630 or late 0930-1800.

The post holder will be responsible to ensure that they provide a comprehensive multidisciplinary domestic, portering and maintenance support service. Responsible for ensuring clean, safe and a comfortable environment is provided for patients, staff and visitors at all times.

We are looking for a talented, enthusiastic and experienced Building Operative to become part of a large team providing an excellent service to our patients and staff.

The Trust offer great benefits ranging from an excellent pension scheme, flexible working and up to 33 days’ annual leave.

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Good knowledge of cleaning procedures.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.

**Desirable**

- Understanding of PLACE audit process
- Understanding of the correct application of manual handling techniques and working at heights.
- Understanding of the quality aspects of service procedure and audits.
- Understanding of confidentiality requirements.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Minimum of 1 year Previous experience working in a domestic/maintenance services role within a Hospital/NHS environment.

**Desirable**

- Experience working in a secure environment.
- Experience escorting contractors and staff.

### Personal Qualities

**Essential**

- Able to work with minimum supervision.
- Good attention to detail (e.g. for checking compliance, tool and equipment list etc.).
- Able to communicate effectively with patients, staff and visitors.
- Able to prioritise tasks and knowing when to escalate issues
- Flexible team worker

**Desirable**

- Willing to develop skills

### Qualifications and Training

**Essential**

- Good general education: reading, writing and basic numeracy skills.
- Demonstrable knowledge of cleaning & CoSHH procedures
- Understanding of basic maintenance tasks (e.g. changing bulbs, batteries etc.).

**Desirable**

- First Aid
- NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in General Cleaning.
- NVQ 2 or equivalent experience in customer service.
