We are currently recruiting for a Building Maintenance Technician to support our ambulance service operations. The role involves maintaining and repairing station facilities, ensuring all building systems remain safe, functional, and compliant.

Post holder to provide a comprehensive, high-quality maintenance service across SECAmb estates within a defined geographical area. The post holder will carry out a wide range of planned and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure that buildings, facilities, and equipment remain safe, compliant, and fully operational in support of frontline ambulance services

### Main duties of the job

- Provide practical day‑to‑day maintenance support across a defined region, ensuring SECAmb sites remain safe, functional, compliant, and well‑maintained.
- Based across multiple SECAmb sites (ambulance stations, offices, workshops), with travel required across the Southeast region.  Work may include unsociable hours / on-call duties to maintain 24/7 operations.Carry out a broad range of minor repairs and maintenance tasks within competence, including basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical work, decoration, fabric repairs, cleaning, portering and general upkeep tasks as directed by the line manager or other senior manager within the Estates Department
- Essential Criteria

Basic qualification in a building or maintenance-related discipline OR equivalent experience   Health & Safety awareness training   Driving licence suitable for a van.Understanding of health & safety  requirements in the workplace

- Desirable Criteri

NVQ Level 2/3  in Maintenance / Building Services (or equivalent) Formal training in electrical, plumbing, or carpentry

Knowledge of NHS estate compliance standards Awareness of statutory compliance (e.g. Legionella, fire safety, electrical safety)

### Detailed job description and main responsibilities

- Conduct routine inspections of buildings and facilities to identify defects, wear and tear, and potential hazards, taking appropriate action or escalating where necessary.
- Support planned inspections, compliance checks, and minor improvement works, as directed by the Technical Manager or Area Manager.
- Assist in maintaining site safety and statutory compliance, reporting hazards, risks, and defects in line with Trust policies and procedures.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safe systems of work, including adherence to risk assessments, method statements, and health & safety legislation.
- Liaise effectively with station staff and operational teams, acting as a visible, responsive, and professional local Estates and Facilities contact.
- Support contractors working on site, such as providing access and escorting where required, monitoring works for safety and compliance and completing post‑work checks
- Assist with the installation, assembly, and movement of equipment and furniture as required.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of work completed, materials used, defects and issues identified using trust systems and processes
- Ensure tools, equipment, and materials are used safely, maintained appropriately, and stored securely. Ensure the van, tools, uniform and equipment are clean, safe, presentable with tidy work areas at all times.
- Support grounds maintenance activities where required, including minor external repairs and seasonal tasks (e.g. winter gritting).
- Contribute to emergency response and business continuity arrangements, assisting with estates-related incidents or urgent site issues.
- Promote a professional, customer-focused approach, representing the Estates and Facilities team positively across the Trust.
- Contribute to continuous improvement, identifying recurring maintenance issues and suggesting practical, cost-effective solutions.
