Band 5 Clinical Technologist- DXA Metabolic Bone Unit   We have an opportunity for a flexible, enthusiastic, motivated Technologist to  join  our friendly team based at Hull University Teaching hospitals NHS Trust

As a  Technologist, working within the DXA Metabolic Bone Unit, you’ll join a remarkable team that’s committed to great care, a fulfilling career and working closely with patients and partners

The Metabolic Bone department is based at Hull Royal Infirmary, in the Allam Diabetes Centre. The department provides specialist x-ray scans to measure bone mineral for diagnosis and treatments.

### Main duties of the job

You will undertake specialist X-ray based diagnostic tests, quality assurance, equipment calibration and record keeping under the supervision of a qualified densitometrist. Patients will be referred to the unit from various speciality areas and primary care organisations.

Experience and awareness of Ionising Regulations is desirable.

This contract is a 6 month fixed term and will conclude 31st March 2027

## Person Specification

### Education/ Qualifications

**Essential**

- Science Degree in a clinical science subject, or equivalent evidence of sound scientific qualifications and technical knowledge gained in a medical/patient environment.

**Desirable**

- Qualification sufficient for state registration

### Special Attributes and other

**Essential**

- Understanding of Clinical Governance and how it relates to the Diagnostic Imaging service

### Knowledge, Training & Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working in a diagnostic clinical service in the NHS. Applicants with equivalent experience in an alternative organisation or relevant degree course will also be considered.
- Experience of quality assurance for technical equipment
- Understanding of current legislation relating to the use of Ionising Radiation

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in osteoporosis and densitometry
- Working to standard operating procedures

### Communication and Interpersonal Skills

**Essential**

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to communicate with a range of audiences.
- Ability to work as part of a team – capable of adapting to a flexible way of working
- Ability to work accurately and independently
- Ability to prioritise workload
