Are you a passionate and experienced nurse looking to take the next step in your career? We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurse to join our friendly and supportive Community Continence Service in Barnet on a permanent basis.

In this rewarding role, you will provide expert assessment, treatment and ongoing management for adults with complex bladder and bowel conditions, including urinary catheter care. Working autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, evidence-based continence care that empowers patients to improve their quality of life and maintain their independence.

As a clinical leader, you will work with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated, person-centred care across Barnet, while supporting service development, quality improvement, education, and colleague development.

### Main duties of the job

As a Bladder and Bowel Specialist Nurse, you will:

- Deliver expert assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management for patients with complex bladder and bowel conditions, including urinary catheter management.
- Develop and implement personalised, evidence-based care plans that promote independence, self-management and improved patient outcomes.
- Provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients, carers and healthcare professionals across community and primary care settings.
- Act as a clinical leader and expert resource, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and partner organisations to deliver integrated, person-centred care.
- Lead and contribute to service development, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audit, research and the implementation of evidence-based practice.
- Support the development, review and implementation of clinical guidelines, policies and care pathways to enhance service delivery.
- Supervise, mentor and educate registered and non-registered staff, promoting clinical excellence and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to clinical governance activities, ensuring high standards of patient safety, quality and compliance with Trust and national standards.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and uphold professional practice in accordance with the NMC Code, Trust policies and relevant national guidance.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant post-registration experience within community nursing, continence, urology, colorectal, elderly care or a related speciality.
- Experience of managing patients with complex bladder and bowel conditions
- Experience of undertaking specialist continence assessments and developing care plans, Level 2
- Experienced in urinary catheter insertion, troubleshooting and care
- Experience of multidisciplinary working
- Experience of clinical supervision and supporting junior staff
- Experience of delivering education and training programmes.
- Experience of clinical audit and service improvement

**Desirable**

- Experience of managing continence product provision.
- Experience of service development
- Experience of policy development.
- Experience of research or quality improvement projects
- Experience of line management or team leadership

### Key Attributes

**Desirable**

- Active membership of relevant professional organisations (e.g. BAUN, BBUK, RCN Continence Forum).
- Interest in innovation and service redesign.
- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)

- Specialist knowledge of bladder, bowel , catheterisation and continence care.
- Knowledge of current national guidance and evidence-based practice.
- Knowledge of NMC Code and professional accountability.
- Knowledge of safeguarding, consent and information governance.
- Excellent assessment and clinical decision-making skills.
- Ability to assess and manage complex patients

### Education/Qualification

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration.
- Degree in Nursing or equivalent experience
- Post-registration qualification in Continence, Bladder and Bowel Care , catheterisation skills.
- Evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).

**Desirable**

- Independent/Supplementary Prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake.
- Leadership or Management qualification.
- Teaching or mentorship qualification.
- Qualification in Quality Improvement, Audit or Research
