Royal Cornwall hospital provides pathology services for Cornwall & is currently looking for a motivated Band 5 Biomedical Scientist to become part of the Haematology, Coagulation and Blood Transfusion team covering the full range of available tests rotating through all sections. Our laboratory has full ISO 15189 Accreditation status, and the Transfusion laboratory is fully MHRA compliant.  The laboratory is equipped with Abbott Alinity HQ full blood count analysers, Werfen Coagulation TOP analysers, Grifols Erytra blood grouping analysers and access to Sebia capillary electrophoresis for haemoglobinopathy and antenatal sickle cell and thalassaemia screening. The hospital is a Haemostasis Centre with the laboratory undertaking advanced coagulation thrombotic and haemorrhagic investigations. ### Main duties of the job To undertake scientific duties in any part of the Department as required in order to facilitate the smooth running of the service. To participate in the 24/7 service provision To provide a clinical technical service by performing routine and specialist analytical testing on a range of biological samples. To maintain and run specialist equipment as deemed appropriate by the lead BMS. To provide cover for other staff members and engage in the team ethic. To supervise, mentor and support Trainee Biomedical Scientists and support staff.
