### Job overview

The post holder will be joining our Performance & Informatics (P&I) department who are well respected and the largest of our corporate services. The P&I portfolio encompasses Business Intelligence, Clinical Administration and Patient Access.

The post holder will line manage a team of analysts and lead the improvement and use of data and BI around Elective, Cancer and Urgent and Emergency Care throughout the Trust, as well as supporting the Trust’s Clinical Groups and Specialties.

The post holder will be expected to work to their own initiative, providing high level information analysis, systems development and investigation, but also have the skills and expertise to interpret, articulate and create business intelligence and insights to inform and drive organisational decision making.

The post holder will ensure that high quality data and intelligence is provided, interpreted and investigated to support service planning, management, delivery and transformation through designated Trust programmes. They will also be responsible for ensuring the Trust reporting supports the national requirements, including submissions of statutory/NHS returns ensuring data is both accurate and timely.

This is a senior post within P&I and therefore the successful candidate will be required to work on-site for a minimum of three days per week subject to business need, with the first three months working on-site five days to understand current practices and to build relationships and networks.

### Main duties of the job

- Deputise for the Head of Business Intelligence when required.
- Be accountable for Trust wide and programme information to support operational colleagues in the management and development or transformation of their services.
- Carry out complex analysis to support Trust staff at all levels, offering guidance and interpretation to ensure the analysis is both appropriate and useful.
- Provide advice and specialist knowledge to define Trust wide and external information requirements and establishing appropriate reporting mechanisms.
- Utilise experience, knowledge, judgement and skills to develop and improve information reporting systems for operational and strategic monitoring of patient information in line with National data requirements and definitions. This will be achieved using a variety of reporting tools and a combination of advanced procedures in, but not limited to, MS Excel, SQL Server, Power BI / MS Fabric.
- Direct line management of staff, providing leadership and ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place to set objectives, monitor performance and agree, review and deliver personal development needs.
- Contribute to the ongoing development and evolution of the department to meet the changing needs of the Trust and the patients and communities we serve, responding to the need for development and implementation of new technologies.
- To maintain a high level of knowledge and expertise in NHS information standards and definitions.

- Ensure line management responsibilities are delivered in line with Trust policy, whilst developing plans to attract and retain the best staff within the discipline in order to build as strong a team as possible.
- Direct line management of staff, providing leadership and ensuring appropriate arrangements are in place to set objectives, monitor performance and agree, review and deliver personal development needs.
- Develop work plans for staff, including agreeing, defining and scheduling tasks, and identifying resources.
- Identify training and development needs of staff for which the post is responsible and ensure these needs are addressed. Train staff as necessary in the use of processing and reporting, offering advice where required.
- Promote a culture of collaborative working to ensure that a consistent high-quality business intelligence and informatics service is maintained and delivered.
- To have responsibility for the Health, Safety and Welfare of self and others and to comply at all times with the requirements of the Health and Safety Regulations.

- Specialist experience of collecting, analysing and interpreting data
- Experience of working with and advising stakeholders, such as, clinicians and managers, on the use and understanding of data and the training of BI tools where necessary
- Relevant experience of providing an information service at senior managerial level
- Experience of setting up and implementing internal processes and procedures
- Significant experience of managing and leading staff
- Experience of working with senior managers and clinical professionals
- Experience of working with business units/services to support the planning and service delivery
