## Job Content

### Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and committed Midwife to join our dedicated Bereavement Service at the Royal Oldham Hospital

In this highly rewarding role, you will provide specialist care and support to birthing people and their families following pregnancy loss, playing a vital part in delivering a sensitive, personalised, and high-quality maternity service during some of the most challenging times.

This is a predominantly clinical role, working across all maternity settings to enhance and influence midwifery care, ensuring families receive expert, compassionate support throughout their journey.

You will work a range of shifts (07:30–17:30), including weekends on a rota basis, ensuring that families have access to this essential specialist service every day.

### Main duties of the job

The Bereavement Midwife will play a pivotal role in delivering compassionate, specialist care to women, birthing individuals, and their families from the first point of contact through to discharge from maternity services.

You will provide high-quality, evidence-based, and family-centred bereavement care across the antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods, ensuring each family receives personalised support during a deeply challenging time.

Acting as a key point of contact, you will coordinate care and provide seamless access to ongoing bereavement support services. You will carefully assess and review each individual’s care plan, using your clinical expertise and professional judgement to adapt and enhance care where needed.

Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to case discussions and ensure appropriate referrals are made when additional or longer-term support is required.

You will empower families to express their needs and concerns, supporting them to promote their own health and wellbeing, while always respecting privacy, dignity, and individual wishes.

Accurate and timely documentation will be essential, maintaining clear patient records in line with Trust and national professional standards.
