We are pleased to invite applications to join the Training Team at National Imaging Academy Wales (NIAW). NIAW are looking for keen Sonographers Trainer to support the delivery of high-quality Radiology and Radiographic training.

The bank worker will work within the multidisciplinary NIAW team to deliver clinical ultrasound training, clinical supervision, undertake competency assessments and/or deliver simulation support at the NIAW. The bank worker will work with the team to support the delivery of the NIAW 3-year strategy.

NIAW is a state-of-the-art facility with a primary function of providing high quality training to the imaging workforce across Wales. The facility includes a 100-seat lecture theatre, two workstation classrooms, three ultrasound suites and ultrasound simulation room, all with dedicated state of the art, audio-visual equipment.

In addition to supporting training for a variety of professions, the Academy hosts corporate and CPD events, supports with the development of training courses for the Radiology workforce and acts as a natural hub for innovation and research within Radiology.

Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

The bank worker will be a qualified and registered Radiographer or Sonographer with postgraduate training in ultrasound, demonstrating expert competence, autonomy, and up-to-date knowledge of ultrasound technology, anatomy, and clinical practice. They will undertake and interpret a range of ultrasound scans, provide high-quality reports, and offer professional advice to colleagues, trainees, and other healthcare professionals. A strong commitment to teaching, supervision, research, and continuing professional development is essential, as is the ability to contribute to the Academy’s wider aims in education, innovation, and service development across NHS Wales. The role requires excellent communication, organisational, and IT skills, adherence to professional standards and governance, and responsibility for maintaining safe working practices and accurate records.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Expert knowledge of ultrasound imaging Ability to issue independent reports Experience of dealing with general public/customers and trainees/students Evidence of participation in clinical audit

**Desirable**

- Previous NHS experience.

### Circumstances

**Essential**

- Ability to travel between Health Board sites and Academy in a timely manner Able to work hours flexibly, based on the demands of the Academy

### Qualifications and/or Knowledge

**Essential**

- BSc in Radiography or equivalent. Post-graduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound or equivalent. HCPC Registration Experience and enthusiasm for teaching and training Current/recent role in training Understand the principles of clinical audit General management skills to include organisation of teaching, training & audit Good understanding and experience in the use of Microsoft Office software e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint

**Desirable**

- Interest and willingness to undertake research. Higher Clinical Leadership qualification. Higher qualification in education
