### Job overview

The Maternity Department at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital is a great place to work. We are looking for Bank Midwives .We are a friendly and ambitious department, with plans in place to continue to develop and improve the service we offer. We endeavour to provide an exceptionally high standard of care to women and babies. To welcome and support the successful candidate to the team, we will provide a robust and supportive orientation programme.

As Norfolk’s largest midwifery service we provide care for approximately 4,800 deliveries per year. Our in-patient facilities include 32 postnatal beds incorporating 8 transitional care beds, and 14 antenatal beds. The Delivery Suite has 13 birthing rooms including a birthing pool, and a bereavement suite. The Maternity assessment unit/maternity triage area is a 4 bedded bay, single room and a rapid assessment room also situated within delivery suite. There are 2 obstetric theatres, anaesthetic and recovery rooms, all providing a full range of facilities for high dependency care. We have a co-located Midwifery Led Birthing Unit which comprises of four birthing rooms with waterbirth facilities available.

This is a 0-hours contract – NNUH is not obliged to offer you work at any time, and you are not entitled to a minimum number of hours of work per day, week or year.

### Main duties of the job

We have a commitment to provide one-to-one care to all women in established labour.

We are proud to have achieved BFI level 3 accreditation. The NNUH supports a high level of fetal surveillance and offers a high-quality Fetal Medicine Service, and we are one of two regional maternal medicine centres providing specialised care and support across the region.

You will assist in the organisation and co-ordination of day-to-day activities in your area of work by effectively utilising resources and assuming responsibility in the absence of a more senior midwife. This includes prioritising the care needs of women and appropriately allocating staff, maintaining an awareness of the progress of each woman’s care.
