### Job overview

Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NNUH) is seeking experienced Investigation Officers to undertake employee relations investigations on an ad hoc basis, as required.

This role is integral to supporting fair, thorough and timely employee relations processes across the Trust. Working closely with the Commissioning Manager, you will lead investigations into a range of employee relations matters, ensuring that investigations are conducted objectively, proportionately and in line with Trust policies and procedures.

You will be responsible for gathering and analysing sensitive information, which may be complex, conflicting and highly confidential. Using your professional judgement and investigative skills, you will establish the relevant facts, consider all available evidence and produce clear, comprehensive and high-quality investigation reports for consideration at formal hearings.

We are looking for highly professional individuals who have significant experience in conducting workplace investigations and can work independently with minimal supervision. You will possess excellent analytical, interpersonal and organisational skills, together with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.

### Main duties of the job

- To work closely with the Commissioning Manager of the investigation or the relevant HR representative keeping in regular contact to update on progress and any development which may require their attention
- To lead/undertake formal meetings with employees in line with appropriate NNUH policies; i.e. misconduct, grievance, capability as part of the investigation process, utilising the appropriate supporting documentation/templates
- To liaise with all relevant parties in relation to the gathering of evidence as part of the investigation process and ensure that all aspects as set out in the Terms of Reference of the investigation are explored
- To be responsible for the preparation and submission of the outcome report and supporting/other documentation at the conclusion of the assigned investigation utilising the appropriate supporting documentation/templates
- To attend formal hearings to present own report in terms of findings in line with the relevant NNUH process

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience of providing high level HR advice
- Some experience of working in a large and complex organisation.
- Demonstrable significant experience of undertaking investigations
- Significant experience of presenting investigation reports at formal hearings

**Desirable**

- Previous NHS or Public Sector experience

- Ability to work independently while identifying factors that require escalation/reporting where required

- Demonstrable professional, efficient and proactive approach to work
- Effective and adaptable interpersonal approaches which are appropriate to the situation
- Fully conversant in Microsoft office software

### Qualifications/training and professional development

**Essential**

- Degree or equivalent level experience
- Evidence of further relevant study, i.e. Masters level qualification or equivalent experience
- Graduate CIPD or equivalent
