An exciting opportunity has arisen for a pro-active and dynamic registrant Immunisation Clinician to join our patient focused and supportive immunisations and vaccination bank team in South Powys.

The successful applicant will work closely with the Lead Nurse & Clinical Supervisor to increase local uptake by providing and supporting immunisation and vaccination services to the eligible population of Powys, in line with the National Immunisation Framework.

As Immunisation Clinician you will provide Clinical Supervision to the Heath Care Support Worker Immunisers and deliver immunisations and vaccinations in a wide range of settings, including vaccination centres, outreach clinics at local community centres, community hospitals and care homes.

An understanding of the role of an immunisation clinician is essential for this role, however full training and updates will be provided.

The ability to travel to different vaccination sites across Powys Teaching Health Board is essential for this role.

### Main duties of the job

As an Immunisation Clinician you will work closely in a small team, providing a range of vaccinations to eligible cohorts.

Provide clinical supervision to HCSW immunisers.

Contribute to the planning, delivery and evaluation of immunisation programmes to all eligible persons for a particular vaccination programme.

You will possess excellent communication skills and will work closely with the MDT in the vaccination centre to ensure the safe delivery of vaccinations to the local population in the Mid and South of the county.

Ensure the delivery of the highest possible standards of quality assured, evidence-based practice e.g. safe cold chain storage of vaccines, and disposal of clinical waste, management of vaccine stock levels and disposal of clinical waste.

Responsible for all aspects of care for citizens ranging from pre-vaccination assessment, careful management of the vaccine and administration of vaccination to eligible citizens in line with the National immunisation Framework.  You will provide guidance and support to the HCSW Immunisers and will liaise with the Lead Nurse & Clinical Supervisor, who will support you in your role.

Transfer equipment and vaccines to and from sessions (between various locations), stock management, including rotation of stock, ensuring stock levels are maintained and addressed.

### Qualifications and/or  Knowledge

**Essential**

- Registered Nurse
- Understanding of evidenced based practice
- Understanding the role of the Immunisation Clinician
- Understanding and awareness of the National Immunisation Framework
- Knowledge and understanding  of safeguarding procedures, and implications for practice
- Previous basic life support  (Adults and Children), and anaphylaxis training

**Desirable**

- Previous vaccination experience
- Understanding of clinical audit
- Trained immuniser in line with National Minimum Standards for  immunisation, or willingness to undertake on commencement of role
