### Job overview

To provide a comprehensive and responsive multi-skilled maintenance service across all the Trust’s properties, whilst specialising and leading in the delivery of quality electrical services. Sites include in-patient and non-inpatient environments. The postholder shall be expected to lead complex electrical diagnoses and repairs across the Trust’s plant and equipment, and advise the Trust on any issues or risks with this equipment.

### Main duties of the job

Whilst the postholder shall be fully qualified in electrical services, they will also be competent in all elements of delivering a multi-skilled service, including minor joinery and plumbing services, and support the delivery of a quality estates function.

The postholder, as expert for electrical services, shall support  new apprentices and T-level students as they join the services with on-the-job training, guidance and shadowing

## Person Specification

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Up-to-date knowledge of current regulations and legislation
- Building services installations
- Maintenance of building distribution systems
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems
- Knowledge of Healthcare Technical Memorandums (HTMs)

**Desirable**

- Mechanical services
- Knowledge of the control of Legionella

### Experience

**Essential**

- Demonstrable post-qualification experience in building services, specific to the area of expertise, i.e. joinery, electrical or plumbing
- Experience as trade lead, i.e. plumbing, joinery or electrical, providing support and guidance to wider staff
- Experience providing project expertise towards trade requirements.
- Experience delivering a multi-skilled service.
- Experience delivering reactive works alongside planned worked.

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in a hospital environment
- Experience working in a mental health in-patient facility
- Experience delivering services in-line with HTM requirements.

### Skills and Abilities

**Essential**

- Written and verbal communication skills to be able to liaise with staff at all levels of the organisation.
- Able to work on own initiative without close supervision.
- Able to work to deadlines
- Able to reallocate own diary/works to respond to reactive works in order of prioritisation.
- Able to provide expert knowledge during projects
- Able to lead minor works projects
- Able to teach T-Level students and apprentices
- Able to work across a wide footprint and work flexibly
- Able to participate in a 24/7 on call service across the footprint of the Trust on a rota.
- Able to drive a Trust vehicle.
- Able to support with overtime as and when required to meet the needs of the services.

### Education / Qualifications

**Essential**

- Recognised time-served apprenticeship, or City & Guilds or BTEC (ONC) or equivalent in joinery, plumbing, electrical, engineering or similar
- Multi-skilled qualification or validated in-house assessment of multi-skilled status
- Short courses relevant to estates services for continuous professional development

**Desirable**

- First aid certificate
- Fire safety-related training qualifications
