An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious operational leader to join the newly established Department of Psychological Services at UHB. As General Manager, you will work in partnership with the Director of Psychological Services, senior clinicians and multidisciplinary teams to shape and deliver a high-quality, patient-centred psychological service across one of the largest NHS Trusts in the country.

This is a unique opportunity to influence the development of a growing and innovative service that spans multiple specialties and sites. The department is on an exciting journey to strengthen integration, improve access to psychological care, develop new pathways, and embed evidence-based approaches that improve outcomes, experience and value for patients and communities. You will play a central role in driving this transformation, working closely with senior clinical leaders, corporate teams and external partners, including the Integrated Care Board and national programmes such as GIRFT, to deliver ambitious organisational and system-wide objectives.

We are looking for a collaborative, innovative and values-driven leader with a strong track record of service delivery, improvement and stakeholder engagement. If you are passionate about improving services, leading change and making a lasting impact on patient care, this is an outstanding opportunity to help shape the future of Psychological Services at UHB.

### Main duties of the job

As General Manager for Psychological Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a complex portfolio of services, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred care. Working closely with clinical, operational and corporate colleagues, you will lead service performance, workforce planning, financial management and quality improvement initiatives to deliver excellent outcomes for patients and staff.

You will be responsible for developing and delivering operational and strategic plans, managing budgets, meeting performance targets, and ensuring compliance with NHS standards and organisational objectives. A key part of the role will involve driving service transformation, using data and evidence to improve efficiency, patient experience and service sustainability. You will work in partnership with Clinical Directors, Heads of Department and senior stakeholders to develop innovative services and support organisational priorities.

Day-to-day responsibilities include leading multidisciplinary teams, monitoring performance, analysing complex information, managing risks, preparing business cases and reports, and supporting the delivery of major improvement programmes. You will also build effective relationships with internal and external partners, represent the service at senior meetings, and provide visible leadership during periods of operational pressure and change.
