### Job summary

Are you looking for a new and exciting opportunity to develop your career as part of an experienced Senior Clinical Therapy Leadership Team in Orthotics? Would you like to contribute to the leadership and profile of our forward thinking inter-disciplinary Therapy Directorate?

If you are an HCPC registered Orthotist with a passion for delivering highly efficient and effective services, this would be an ideal opportunity for you.

A Band 8a post has become available combining clinical specialist roles with local operational leadership on the Birmingham Heartlands, Good Hope and Solihull sites. These leads will work very closely with the QEHB lead to address service delivery and grow our own NHS employees.

A suitable band 7 staff member would also potentially be considered to develop into the 8A role with completion of successful on site competency training.

One site would be allocated as your main base, with cross site cover needed when required

### Main duties of the job

To work autonomously as the lead Orthotist providing a clinical specialist Orthotics service within associated specialist clinics across the sites but predominantly the HGS sites and in collaboration with the QEHB. Take clinical responsibility for the assessment and management decisions for patients who are referred.

There is consideration of a development role from band 7 to 8a with appropriate competencies.

To be responsible for ensuring clinical effectiveness across the Orthotics service clinic by utilising evaluation and research skills.

To provide strong clinical leadership in the provision of an effective, high quality, Orthotics Service for patients.

To lead and support audit and research projects in order to evaluate service delivery.

To be responsible for the education, training and development of orthotics staff across environments to facilitate patient flow and respond to priorities.

To regularly review clinical practice delivery, identify new ways of working and advancement of extended clinical skills

To work with medical, nursing, AHP and other healthcare colleagues across the clinical specialty within UHBFT and outside of the Trust in order to optimise patient management. This may include implementing and delivering education and training to cross professional groups.

To develop and maintain key working relationships with Consultant and nursing teams.

To work alongside procurement to facilitate an annual review of preferred suppliers and locum orthotists

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- * Extensive clinical experience in a clinical area relevant to the clinical team
- * Significant experience working as part of an MDT
- * Significant experience as a clinical leader including direct clinical supervision.
- * Significant experience in education and clinical training of others.
- Teaching experience to uni and multi --professional groups with evidence of ability to deliver high quality presentations
- * Multi-disciplinary team leadership
- * Demonstrates excellent clinical service provision relevant to post and commensurate with grade
- * Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of interdisciplinary working

**Desirable**

- * Experience of managing budgets and resources
- * Experience of clinical pathway development and redesign
- * Managing programmes of organisational change that have led to tangible improvements
- * Able to demonstrate experience of patient and public engagement
- * Able to demonstrate experience of operational management knowledge and skills

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- * Relevant AHP Degree Specific to Role
- * Evidence of continuous professional development
- * Clinical qualification at degree level or equivalent
- * Current professional registration with the HCPC

**Desirable**

- * Management, Leadership or teaching qualification
- * Master's degree or equivalent
