### Job overview

An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen to join our newly designed team to deliver Nurse-led diagnostics. You will drive, lead, and showcase advanced autonomous nursing practice applying advanced assessment and diagnostic skills in the management of patients referred with a possible diagnosis of cancer. Diagnostic processes include: appointment scheduling, clinical assessment, consent, review of Imaging, non-invasive endoscopy procedures i.e. capsule sponge and relaying diagnosis.

The role will require delivery of a comprehensive diagnostic pathway for patients suspected of having cancer and the management of patients on this pathway to the point of diagnosis and the onward referral/liaison with other services (e.g. Clinical/Medical Oncology). Performing non-invasive endoscopy procedures requires development of a highly specialist skill and the use of specialist equipment. The training of junior staff in these skills is also an important part of this role.

The role will be to provide clinical leadership and to support Consultants to realise their full potential to ensure seamless delivery of patient care ensuring high quality clinical outcomes.

The post holder will act as an innovator, motivator, and role model in order to support and influence clinical pathway redesign within cancer services including quality improvement, implementation of national initiatives and service reconfiguration.

To demonstrate clinical expertise in cancer diagnostics and work in collaboration with the appropriate multi-disciplinary groups to meet the specific needs of a diagnostic pathway, ensuring patients benefit from a nurse approach to their care To independently receive and make referrals and lead on the management of a caseload for 2WW patients, treatment and diagnosis follow-up across health care settings.

- Minimum of 3 years clinical experience at Band 7 (or equivalent) or above within specialist area.

- Must possess a proven track record and have demonstrable formal audit expertise, knowledge and skills
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of approaches to the management of patients, demonstrated by advanced clinical reasoning
- Drives a patient centred approach
- Advanced communication skills
- Advanced clinical assessment skills
- To lead the facilitation of change
- Previous experience of clinical education at undergraduate and postgraduate leve
- Evidence of continued professional development - reviewing current practice within specialist area and application to clinical practice

- Robust understanding of all aspects of Clinical Governance including previous experience of quality issues, audit and risk management
