### Job summary

Birmingham & Solihull TB Service are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Nurse to join the Team based in the community (Yardley Court).

The Team provides follow-up care to patients diagnosed with Tuberculosis and offer screening to contacts. The Specialist Team manage TB Incidents and Outbreaks across Birmingham & Solihull.

### Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic nurse who has experience in TB and experience in working with vulnerable and underserved persons.

The post holder must be highly motivated, flexible, adaptable and have significant experience in TB.

The role of the TB Specialist Nurse requires to Case Manage a Caseload of Patients, support and ensure treatment completion, thus preventing the spread of infection to others and minimising the development of drug-resistant disease.

The Post Holder will join the Multi-disciplinary Team and work closely with UKHSA and have links with Neighbouring TB Services and liaise with TB services across the country.

Being a car driver is essential.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- *To have or working towards advanced health assessment module and non-medical prescribing.
- *Evidence and ability to revalidate as required by the NMC
- *Significant post registration experience at Band 6 or above Clinical Nurse Specialist within practice related field to role applied for
- *Evidence of ability to professionally lead / manage a team.
- *Evidence of achievements and career development in current post and of ongoing professional development/ competence.
- *Demonstrate specialist knowledge underpinned by theory and CPD relevant to TB.
- *Experience of developing educational programmes and teaching / assessing and supervising others in a clinical and community setting.
- *Experience in service development.
- *Working in a multi-disciplinary and cross agency work environment .
- *Can demonstrate expert nursing knowledge with an ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate specialist care delivered to patients and give advice and information to patients / relatives/ care staff.
- *Awareness of current relevant NHS policy context relating to the speciality
- *Has understanding / experience of the principles of safeguarding .
- *Knowledge of corporate and clinical governance (E).

**Desirable**

- *Patient / user involvement and advocacy role.
- *Awareness of current research related to the speciality.

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- *Registered Adult / Child Nurse on the NMC Register.
- *Evidence of post registration qualification in TB, supplemented by specialist experience and short courses.
- *Recognised mentorship course
- *Non-medical prescriber or willing to work towards (where applicable to role).

**Desirable**

- *To have or working towards advanced health assessment module and non-medical prescribing.

- *As this is a community post, post holder must have access to a vehicle to carry out duties to fulfil the role.
