We seek a dynamic and enthusiastic Children and Young People’s  Occupational Therapist to join a well-established and continuously growing, professional, warm, and welcoming team in Camden. The CYP's Occupational Therapy service offers a high-quality service to all children aged from 0-19 in Camden.

The Royal Free London has an extensive offer for upskilling staff in clinical areas, Leadership, and Quality Improvement providing excellent opportunities for learning, development, and networking opportunities, appropriate for all Band levels. Our highly skilled team will support you in developing their clinical skills further via supervision and support, as well as external training to areas of interest for you and the service.

The post holder will be based at Kentish Town Health Centre and will be part of the Social Communication Assessment Service (SCAS).

### Main duties of the job

The CYP's OT service offers a high quality service to all eligible children, aged from birth to school leaving age, who live or attend school in Camden or who are registered with a Camden GP. The service covers more than 50 primary and secondary schools, special schools and units, nurseries and children’s centres.

The main duties of this post are:

To provide highly specialist clinical support as part of the multidisciplinary Camden MOSAIC Services, Social Communication Assessment Service (SCAS).

- To provide a highly specialist service to children / young people with suspected neurodevelopmental disorders, with a focus on diagnostic assessment.
- To support in the development of training packages to school staff / parents / other professionals, in order for them to identify concerns regarding the child /young persons needs and implement therapy advice effectively.
- To prioritise the safeguarding of vulnerable children / young people at all times
- To support the service to achieve Key Performance Indicators, maintaining Target Activity Levels and demonstrating impact re quality and outcomes.
- To lead on quality governance, audits and projects for the team/service
- To be responsible for the supervision and line management of identified team members as required.
- To support relevant senior managers in Camden MOSAIC with service development.
- To deputise for relevant senior managers in Camden MOSAIC in the day to day management of the team or key tasks as requested.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Experience of working with neurodivergent children
- Experience of working with children in early years
- Experience of assessing children for autism diagnostic purposes
- Experience of working with other MDT professionals/early years staff.
- Ability to relate clinical theory to clinical practice.
- Knowledge and experience of a range of assessments appropriate for assessing social communication difficulties in pre-school and school children

**Desirable**

- Experience of working in children centres and nurseries, schools
- Experience of working with paediatricians
- Trained in ADOS
- A knowledge of relevant policies and documents, e.g. Early Years Framework, SEN reforms

### Skills and aptitudes

**Essential**

- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience in delivering training.
- Able to organise, plan and prioritise own workload. Demonstrates ability to generate appropriate strategies for caseload management.
- Ability to show sensitivity at all times to the emotional needs of clients and their carers in particular when imparting potentially distressing information.
- Proven ability to work as part of a team.
- Demonstrates empathy with clients, carers and families often where barriers to understanding exist ensuring that effective communication is achieved.

### Education & professional Qualifications

- Degree in Occupational therapy
- Member of RCOT
- HPC Registration

- Recognised post graduate degree in a relevant area such as autism
