If you are looking to join a well supported, dynamic Orthoptic team on a part-time basis, this opportunity could be for you. We are seeking an experienced orthoptist to join our multidisciplinary team for a 12-month, fixed-term maternity cover post (15 hours per week).

- ​Clinical Excellence: Provide a highly specialised orthoptic service, including the daily assessment, diagnosis, and management of a full range of paediatric and adult patients.
- ​Leadership & Management: Support the clinical leadership and management of orthoptic services and staff at Edgware Community Hospital, Barnet Hospital, and Chase Farm Hospital (as agreed with the Head Orthoptist)

### Main duties of the job

- Deliver expert clinical care  through the advanced assessment diagnosis and management of complex orthoptic cases.
- Actively drive the development and leadership of specialised pathways within both paediatric and adult services
- Collaborate with senior colleagues to lead and deliver high quality clinical education and training

- ​Clinical Education:  As an accredited undergraduate training centre, you will share lead clinical duties with other lead orthoptists to support and oversee undergraduate placements.

## Person Specification

### Qualifications

**Essential**

- Possess a Degree or Diploma of Orthoptics
- HCPC registration

**Desirable**

- BIOS Clinic Tutors Course/ equivalent
- Clinical Teaching qualification
- Management/ Leadership qualification

### Work Experience

**Essential**

- Extensive experience in all aspects of clinical Orthoptics involving specialist services.
- Experience of teaching student Orthoptists, doctors, pre-registration optometrists, nurses.
- Evidence of CPD

**Desirable**

- Demonstrate knowledge and clinical skills relevant to Orthoptics in extended roles.
- Have management/ leadership experience.

### Skills and Aptitudes

**Essential**

- To be able to show good working relationships at all levels and to work as part of a multidisciplinary team or independently.
- To be able to work under pressure in a busy environment, whilst maintaining high quality Orthoptic practise.
- The ability to handle difficult situations calmly and effectively to deal with patients, tactfully, efficiently and with empathy.
