This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Mental Health Support Team (MHST). We work across the city of Birmingham and Solihull to support young people and their families who may be facing mental and emotional health issues. Having gained further funding to expand the team, we are looking to recruit 1 Band 7 Clinical Team Manager to join the leadership team. Our new team is launching in October 2026.

The candidate will lead a group of trainee Band 4 EMHPs, Band 5 Qualified Clinical Practitioners and Band 6 Senior Clinical Practitioners, all working in schools to ensure mild to moderate mental health and emotion wellbeing support is provided. Our clinical teams are diverse and include staff from a wide range of mental health professions including nursing, occupational therapy, PWPs, CWPs, EMHPs and youth workers. Experience in leading clinically diverse teams would be a benefit.

You will be one of the most senior clinicians in the team.  Along with undertaking clinical work, you will line manage junior clinical staff and help the Band 8a Lead Nurse in the management and oversight of service clinical governance.

You will need to ensure you are registered with the relevant professional body prior to applying.

### Main duties of the job

The Mental Health Support Team is an early intervention service, working with children, young people, and their families with mild to moderate mental health needs within Birmingham and Solihull.

The team is comprised of a range of different clinicians, all working together to support young people as early as possible, to prevent their needs escalating and having a long term impact on their wellbeing.

We have 3 core functions:

- To deliver evidence-based interventions for mild-to-moderate mental health issues.
- Support the senior mental health lead in each school or college to introduce or develop whole school or college approach and,
- Give timely advice to school and college staff and liaise with external specialist service to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.

A typical clinical day for your staff may involve  delivering assemblies and workshops to a primary and secondary schools and further education settings. They may then travel to health centers, homes or education settings to deliver some one-to-one or a group session of low intensity CBT intervention. They may then facilitate supervision, plan/create resources and help lead team meetings. This role includes clinical practice and working with patients, including holding a caseload as required. Travel across the Birmingham and Solihull area is expected.

Your role is supported by other peer Band 7 Clinical Team Managers and also by the Band 8a Lead Nurse for MHST.
