### Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and dynamic Dietitian to provide a Dietetic service to the Upper GI (UGI) and Sarcoma patients at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham (UHB). The vacancy is a 1.0 WTE band 6 permanent position. Experience with all forms of nutrition support and home enteral feeding is essential.

This post involves providing inpatient and outpatient services to UGI patients. This entails seeing and managing a range of upper GI patients including surgical, oncology and benign patients. The successful candidate should work well in a MDT, strives for a high level of excellence and will be involved in audits and research to improve patient care.

The dietetic department at QEHB has a robust CPD program, and is committed to providing excellent line management, supervision/support, specialist training and other forms of continuous professional development.

### Main duties of the job

*To provide a dietetic service for both inpatient and outpatients within UGI and sarcoma at QEHB.

*To attend the weekly MDT

*Utilise a high level of knowledge, skills and experience as an independent practitioner within the service area.

*To act as an expert nutritional resource and to educate and train other Dietitians, health professionals and dietetic students and others as required within the Trust.

*To participate in audit, service development and implementation of evidence-based guidelines/protocols/policies.

*To be responsible for training and clinical supervision of junior staff.

*To provide highly specialised nutritional assessment of this patient group, including dietary assessment, body composition and assessment of risk of maldigestion.

* To provide highly specialised nutritional advice for patients, including nutrition support, dietary manipulation, management of malabsorption, management of bowel obstructions and (home) enteral feeding.

*To be able to work and communicate appropriately with patients, carers and relatives who will be undergoing a high level and frequent level of distress due to the nature of their treatments/ disease.

- * Post-graduate experience relevant to post
- * Teaching skills including supervisory skills for student training
- * Relevant post registration experience at entry to post
- * All types of nutritional support
- * Evidence of multi-disciplinary team work
- * In depth knowledge of nutritional assessment / nutritional screening tools
- * Up to date with clinical developments, with evidence of contributions to clinical meetings /journal clubs

**Desirable**

- * Evidence of relevant continued professional development in following areas

### Qualifications
