This post is a 12 month Fixed term  Maternity cover - please note the exact time frame will depend on the time it takes for the recruitment process and agreed start date.

Static within the Orthopaedic Physiotherapy Team at St Helier Hospital.  The caseload is trauma, primarily # NOF rehabilitation with some involvement with the repatriation of major trauma patients from SGH. Our Hip Fracture Unit at St Helier Hospital is nationally recognised to be the best performing hip fracture unit in the London area for the last 10 consecutive years and in the top 5% of the UK. ESTH’s Fractured Neck of Femur Pathway has received national acclaim and recognition; the physiotherapy team are a vital part of this pathway. A prioritised 7 day service is offered, ensuring all patients are offered rehabilitation from day 1 post op.

### Main duties of the job

This post involves regularly contributing to the prioritised 7 day service through rostered weekends.

- To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to adult inpatients within St. Helier Hospital
- To abide by the CSP and HCPC rules of professional conduct and local professional and quality standards

- To assess and treat own workload of patients, who may have complex presentation, and maintains associated records, as an autonomous practitioner
- To supervise and teach recently qualified physiotherapists/physiotherapy assistants/students and involvement in teaching MDT staff.
- To undertake evidence-based projects, including recommendations for change in practice and will participate in departmental research and audit
- To assist and backfill the Band 7 Physiotherapist by monitoring caseloads, recording statistics, prioritising referrals and managing the team
- To liaise effectively with other disciplines
- To work closely with MDT on a daily basis

### Education

**Essential**

- Physiotherapy qualfication
- HCPC registered

**Desirable**

- CSP member
- ATOCP member

### Knowledge

**Essential**

- Good understanding of the management of complex Trauma Patients
- Good understanding of the management of patients with Cognitive impairment/ behavioral challenges

**Desirable**

- Good understanding of the management of Splinting and Bracing for orthopedic conditions

### Experience

**Essential**

- Varied clinical experience in Acute setting
- T&O experience as B5
- Respiratory competent

**Desirable**

- Oncall experience

### Management

**Essential**

- Previous experience of management of staff supervision , students and assistants
- Ability to backfill in the absence of B7, including team management, and caseload co-ordination

**Desirable**

- Previous experience of staff supervision as B6
- Previous experience of managing Rotas for 7 day working
