Due to internal movement our supportive, innovative and forward-thinking SLT team at QEHB has the opportunity to welcome a part rotational Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist for 12 months. The static element of the role to be within healthcare for older people and the first rotational element will be within acute medicine. Other rotational specialities include Stroke, Head & Neck Cancer, Voice, Respiratory Support Unit, Specialist Surgery, Outpatients and Critical Care. We have a large yet close-knit, highly skilled team who contribute to our robust supervision structure innovation, participation in research and clinical/professional development are actively encouraged. We have well-established SLT led Videofluoroscopy, FEES and SVR services so opportunities to access these instrumental assessments to help to shape your clinical practice would also be available. The team offers: *A full induction programme, robust supervision, regular team meetings & peer support *A wide range of opportunities for career development including research *Access to videofluoroscopy, FEES, SVR and specialist voice clinics *Opportunities to develop your strategic and leadership skills *Modern facilities with good transport links ### Main duties of the job This role is based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham and is fixed term for 12 months. The successful candidate would be part of the Healthcare for Older People team and benefit from an initial 9-month rotation in the Acute Medicine team for the remainder of their working week. The role is largely based on acute wards with opportunities for outpatient work through some of the rotations. We have a large team who share a caseload of diverse patient cohorts so being a team player is essential. Each team has a team leader, peer specialist SLTs, NQP SLTs and SLTAs who are all supported by Clinical Leads, a Professional Lead and a Consultant SLT. We would welcome a candidate who is has experience working with patients in the specialist areas, but our supportive team will be willing to support your development.
