### Job overview

To provide a high standard of specialist physiotherapy service to a wide range of Physiotherapy in-patients. This post consists of 9 monthly rotations in the following clinical areas: -  Health Services for Elderly People. (HSEP) -  Rapid Response ( A+E and acute medicine ) - Oncology - Respiratory - General surgery and Liver Transplantation - Renal - Vascular Surgery and Amputees

### Main duties of the job

 To assess and treat own caseload of patients as an autonomous and independent practitioner for patients who may have acute, chronic  complex presentation, and maintain appropriate treatment plans, and/or records and statistics.  - To participate in the weekend and on call rota - Supervise and teach junior therapists, students and assistants - To be involved in the teaching of the multidisciplinary team (MDT), staff and patient education groups. -Undertake and present evidence-based projects and research including departmental audit and suggesting practice changes, under the supervision of line supervisor.

## Person Specification

### Experience

**Essential**

- - Active participation in an audit or project work
- - Good understanding of relevant clinical guidelines
- - Broad range of clinical experience at a Band 5 level or above
- - Experience of working in an acute, hospital-based setting, including working within an MDT
- - Presentations to a range of groups
- - Teaching/training of staff or students
- - Supervision of more junior staff, assistants and/students
- - Computer literate, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- - Evidence of CPD
- - Experience of weekend working and emergency on-call working

**Desirable**

- - Motivational Interviewing/ Behaviour Change training (CBT or facilitation skills)

- - Evidence of specialist clinical skills and core Physiotherapy skills
- - Ability to work effectively within different teams both multi and uni-disciplinary
- - Ability to communicate with community partners and external agencies especially to facilitate safe and timel hospital discharge

- - Ability to critically evaluate current research & apply to own practice
- - Ability to recognise unacceptable behaviour and act on this appropriately

- - Member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP)
- - Membership of special interest group
