Join a dynamic, forward-thinking Neuro Rehabilitation outpatient service where you’ll play a pivotal role in transforming patient outcomes. As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will deliver highly skilled, holistic assessments for patients attending clinics, providing targeted interventions, expert advice, and seamless coordination of care pathways internally and externally.

Working as an integral member of a collaborative Interdisciplinary Team (MDT), you will partner closely with Consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine, Physiotherapists, Nurses, Psychologists, Counsellors and Speech Therapists - contributing in clinic settings and as an autonomous practitioner. You will have the opportunity to shape and evolve Occupational Therapy provision within specialist clinics—developing innovative interventions, evaluating impact against national standards, and driving continuous service improvement.

Beyond clinical excellence, you’ll contribute to wider service development—supporting research, leading quality improvement initiatives, and working with leadership teams to review and enhance service delivery. ### Main duties of the job

Deliver advanced, holistic OT assessments and interventions for patients with complex neuro-rehabilitation needs.

Manage a specialist clinic caseload, including goal setting, treatment planning and ongoing review.

Work autonomously and within the MDT, collaborating closely with Consultants and partner services.

Coordinate patient pathways, liaising with community teams and specialist services to ensure seamless care.

Provide expert advice on equipment, adaptation and upper limb/spasticity management.

Undertake home, clinic and community visits as required.

Support patients and carers through complex and sensitive situations, promoting independence and quality of life.

Maintain clear clinical records, reports and communication with all stakeholders.

Contribute to teaching, supervision, service development, audit and quality improvement.

Participate in research, innovation and the ongoing development of specialist neuro-rehabilitation services.

### Personal

**Essential**

- Reliable.

### Experience

**Essential**

- Significant experience including varied comprehensive rotations at junior grade, undertaken with relevant post registration experience.
- Experience working in neurology
- Experience of assessing and treating complex disability including clients with brain injury, spinal cord injury, progressive neurological disorders.
- Experience as an Occupational Therapist in assessing, prescribing and providing equipment safely, including consideration of risk, fit, environment and user capability.
- Knowledge and understanding of the rehabilitation process

### Skills/ Knowledge

**Essential**

- Understanding of community support agencies and other professions, and ability to work and liaise with them.
- Basic computer skills.
- Basic working knowledge of orthotics.
- Evidence of good organisational skills including prioritisation, time management skills and the ability to work independently
- Sound knowledge and application of current, evidence-based clinical practices and models relevant to the treatment and rehabilitation of people with neurological conditions.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of current legislative changes affecting the NHS, especially those relevant to OT.
- Ability to demonstrate knowledge of and an understanding of the principles of clinical standard setting, audit process and evidence-based practice.
- Ability to demonstrate individual responsibility for health and safety
- Effective communicator, able to convey sensitive or complex information to a wide range of audiences using advanced verbal, non-verbal and alternative communication methods, including the use of interpreters when required.
- Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to generate written communication, which is relevant, concise, accurate and legible.
- Ability to manually handle patients and/or equipment safely to attain positioning that is necessary to perform safe and effective clinical assessments and treatments
- Ability to use cognitive, behavioural and communication strategies to ensure optimal treatment outcomes and rehabilitation goals are met.

**Desirable**

- Supervisory experience.
- Basic skills in digital photography and use of associated computer software.
- Demonstrate splinting skills or are prepared to develop these.
- Knowledge of use of augmentative aids to communication.

### Qualifications/ Training

**Essential**

- HCPC registration
- Grad Dip OT/ Diploma in Occupational Therapy / Occupational Therapy Degree
- Evidence of relevant CPD

**Desirable**

- Active Member of clinical interest group
